Swivel Socket is a power station that's meant to be plugged into an ordinary electrical outlet, but the main difference is, it'll give you five sockets and two USB ports instead of just two sockets. Plus, the compact, white power station's two panels have been designed to swivel 90 degrees to the left or right, which will enable users to have their sockets facing forward or to the side. The idea is that by turning your sockets to the side, you'll be able to save yourself some space in any room or area.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Plug Station Into Outlet

Before you can use your Swivel Socket, you'll need to plug it into an ordinary electrical outlet with two sockets. To keep the station as far from the floor (or a table or countertop) as possible, it's a good idea to plug it into the top socket instead of the bottom one.

  2. Plug Cords Into Station

When you look at your power station, you'll notice that there are two panels. The one on the left contains two sockets with a USB port below it, while the one on the right contains three electrical sockets. There will also be two additional USB ports on the top of the device. You can plug a suitable cord of your choice into any or all of these sockets and ports, depending on your own needs.

  3. Swivel Panels (optional)

Once you have your chosen cords plugged into your power station, you can swivel the left-hand panel 90 degrees to the left and swivel the right-hand panel 90 degrees to the right. This isn't absolutely necessary, but it'll likely save you space, especially if you want to place furniture against the wall where your power station is plugged in. Without any swiveling, the panels will continue to face forward, making the power station resemble a traditional electrical outlet.

  • White

Each Swivel Socket is white, the same shade as most standard electrical outlets, so none of these power stations will stick out like a sore thumb in any room of your home. If you decide to use one in your kitchen or bathroom, it may even match other appliances or fixtures in there.

  • Compact

This power station is compact (just a bit smaller than an old VHS tape), which means that each one won't take up much space on your wall. If you'd like to take one to work or to your cottage, it won't require a great deal of space in your vehicle, either. Furthermore, if you want to move one of these devices from room to room, you likely won't have a problem carrying it around in one hand.

  • Surge Protection

The Swivel Station offers surge protection, so if the power goes out while any appliances or devices are plugged into the station, they won't end up getting damaged by the outage. Regardless of which socket or USB port you've plugged a particular device into, this will be the case.

  • Automatic Light Sensor

Every one of these power stations also contains an automatic light sensor. This means that it'll detect when it's getting dark in a particular room, and immediately following this detection, the panel of six bright white LED lights on the bottom of the station will turn on. Due to this illumination, you'll never have to plug anything into the station (or unplug it) in the pitch dark, which could be hazardous for you or the device in question.

Positive Points

  • Saves Space

When you plug appliances and devices into a traditional electrical outlet, their cords will often stick out into the middle of the room and take up space that could be used for other things. However, when you turn your Swivel Socket's two panels to the side, the things that are plugged into those panels won't stick out as much. Therefore, no matter the size of the room or area you're in, you'll give yourself at least a bit more free space. Similarly, your power station will also lift cords off the floor, which can save you space there.

  • Promotes Safety Near Stairs

Since this power station will automatically light up at night, it's a good idea to plug one in near your stairs, especially if those stairs lead to a dark area like your basement. That way, if someone goes up or down the stairs at nighttime, the power station will light their way, so they don't end up stumbling and falling. This can be especially beneficial if you live with a senior with mobility issues or a young child who isn't very steady on their feet yet.

  • Ideal Charging Station

The Swivel Socket makes an ideal charging station for a small family or household, due to the fact that it contains four different USB ports. If you have a small family or household of four people or less, you should all be able to plug in and charge your phones in one location that you can all access. Larger families or households can have people take turns using the ports, and this charging station will also charge virtually any tablet.

  • Makes a Good Night Light

If you have a child who's even mildly afraid of the dark, adding a Swivel Socket to their room will likely be helpful. They'll be able to use it to plug in electrical or digital toys, and its automatic light-up panel will give them just enough illumination to make them feel safe at night. Fortunately, for parents' sake, it won't give them enough light to keep them awake for hours.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Swivel Away From Water Sources

When you're using this power station next to a water source, such as a sink or a bathtub, be sure to pivot its panels away from the water source as much as you possibly can. This will help stop your electrical or USB cords from succumbing to water damage. Along the same lines, it's best to move the appliances or devices that are attached to the cords as far away from the water source as possible, too.

  2. Maximize Power With Laptop

If you require more than four USB ports to plug devices into at any given time, and you have a laptop, start by plugging your laptop into the power station first. Following that, if your laptop has USB ports (and most do), you'll be able to plug additional devices into the laptop's ports. If you can use four USB ports from your power station, and three from your laptop, that'll logically give you a total of seven available ports.

Negative Points

  • Not for Outdoor Use

While you can use your Swivel Socket almost anywhere indoors, it's not waterproof or weather-resistant, so it's not a good idea to use it outdoors. If you need an electrical outlet for your yard, it's best to stick with a traditional one or search for an alternative power station.
