Stray Safe is a small GPS unit that will allow you to track your pet's location so that they don't end up lost. The unit is lightweight and waterproof, and will attach to most cat or dog collars. To start using the device, you must download and log into the Stray Safe app, and set a safe zone for each of your pets. When a pet has left their safe zone, you'll receive a text on your cell phone and will be able to find out where they've gone. You can also determine your pet's location on your personal computer by using the Stray Safe website.
When you attach a Stray Safe device to your dog or cat's collar, you'll be able to keep track of where they are at all times. The only exception to this if your pet enters an area in which the device cannot receive GPS satellite signals or reception from the Optus mobile network. Once you find out a pet has left the safe zone that you've designated, you can use a Stray Safe map to find them via the official website or your cell phone. If it's essential that you find your pet as quickly as possible, Chase Mode can be activated. Within this mode, you'll be provided with your pet's location every 60 seconds.
The cost of Stray Safe is $99.00 plus $7.99 shipping, for a total price of $106.99. This price was obtained from the As Seen on TV commercial page which was taken offline due to Stray Safe being discontinued. Stray Safe may still be found for sale on Amazon or Ebay.
When your pet is wearing the Stray Safe attachment on their collar, Stray Safe will determine their location as precisely as possible by using GPS satellite signals to track where they're at. It will then inform you of that location by sending you a text through the Optus mobile network, if they've left their safe zone or their location has been requested by you. In the event that the unit can't give you an exact location, due to weak GPS signals, it'll give you an estimate as to where your pet is.
Each Stray Safe attachment contains a high-intensity LED light that you can turn on remotely, using your phone, tablet or computer. You can use this light to help you find your pet in the dark, and it'll also help illuminate your path if you're taking them for a walk at nighttime.
After you receive an alert that a pet has left their safe zone, you can activate Chase Mode, which means that Stray Safe will tell you where your pet is located once per minute. That means you won't end up needlessly traveling a great distance in one direction while your pet has gone off elsewhere.
Stray Safe also contains a history tracker that will provide a history of your pet's locations for up to one week. Hence, if your pet has consistently been running off to the same place, or in the same direction, you'll be able to find this out.
You can choose your own safe zone, an area in which you're comfortable with your pet roaming, whether this is your yard or your entire neighborhood. Therefore, if you don't want them, you won't get unnecessary alerts every time your pet leaves your sight.
If you have more than one pet, you can use your Stray Safe app to track all of them, as long as they're all wearing the GPS attachments on their collars. You will be able to set a different safe zone for each pet, if you'd like.
When the battery within your pet's collar attachment begins to run low, you'll receive an alert on your cell phone. After this occurs, you should remove the attachment from your pet's collar and recharge it, in order to keep it working effectively.
The speed at which a Stray Safe collar attachment's battery will run out is dependent on your location, your pet's activity, and your usage of Stray Safe's features. However, it may last for two or more weeks without being recharged.
Currently, Stray Safe only works in Australia, and you must be using the country's Optus mobile network in order for it to work for you and your pet.
Many dogs and cats have microchips inserted under their skin so they can be identified if they go missing. However, these will only identify a pet—they will not allow an owner or anyone else to track a pet's location.
Always ensure that you turn your Stray Safe GPS unit off before you recharge it. To determine that it's off, press and release its power button, and if it is off, the paw print on the device will not light up.
