Before you start using your Steam N Press, you'll need to plug it into an electrical outlet in order to heat it up. When it's ready to go, the red indicator will turn on. While it's heating up, it's best that you prepare your first piece of clothing for ironing by hanging it up or placing it on an ironing board.
After your steaming tool has heated up and your first piece of clothing is ready, the next thing you'll have to do is press the power button on your device in order to activate it. Once you do so, it'll deliver a steady stream of heat that will eliminate wrinkles. You'll have the choice of running the tool directly over the fabric you want to iron, or holding it slightly (about a quarter inch or less) above the fabric. Either way, it'll effectively steam and iron the garment in question as you move it along.
You'll likely be able to finish ironing one garment in a maximum of five minutes, but you can take up to 15 minutes if you'd like. Following that, your device's stream of steam will temporarily stop. Regardless of how long you take, once you're done steaming, you'll be able to wear whatever garment you've treated to work, to school or anywhere else you need to go with confidence.
Each Steam N Press is about the size of an athletic shoe and doesn't weigh more than a few pounds. This makes it a great tool to bring along when you're on a trip, especially if you're traveling for business and want to look professional at all times. It'll slide right into any suitcase and will even fit in some handbags.
This tool will work on almost all fabrics, including the ones that are most commonly worn, such as denim, wool and cotton, and more delicate ones such as silk or rayon. You'll be able to use it to make virtually any garment look more attractive without worrying about causing damage, and it'll glide right over buttons without damaging them, either. It will also iron both sides of a garment at once, so you'll be able to iron the whole thing in one pass without turning it over.
The steaming action that you'll get from this device will remove odors from clothing, too. If you tend to produce a lot of sweat throughout a long day at work or a gym session, you'll likely find this beneficial. Instead of throwing out a piece of clothing since it's gotten too stinky, this tool will allow you to hold onto it for at least a little bit longer.
Besides using this steaming tool on clothing, you'll be able to use it to iron curtains, bedding (including pillows) and plush children's toys. You can steam these things without moving them, but when you're treating any of these non-clothing items, you should hold your Steam N Press slightly above the fabric without touching it directly. You can also use this tool to iron fabric such as suede found on the outside of shoes, but make sure you don't use it on any rubber or plastic parts.
When you use a large traditional iron and an ironing board, there's a chance that the iron will get too hot and burn your clothing, but this will never happen with the Steam N Press. Since it will stop delivering heat after 15 minutes, no matter what, this will prevent it from becoming too hot.
While you can use an ironing board to lay out garments to steam with this tool, if you'd like, it's not at all necessary. Instead, you can simply hang the garments up on hangers and run the steaming device over them as they hang. If your dwelling is small, not requiring an ironing board will definitely save you some space that you'll be able to use for other, perhaps more necessary, things.
This tool must be plugged into an electrical outlet in order to heat up, so if you don't have one wherever you are, you won't be able to use it at all. Using it frequently may also make your electricity bill go up almost as much as using a larger iron would.
This device will emit steam for just 15 minutes at a time, and assuming that each garment will take about five minutes to iron, you'll only be able to iron about three in one session. If you often end up with tons of garments to iron each week, this might not be the best ironing tool for you when efficiency is considered.
While you're using your Steam N Press, you can hold down the power button the entire time you're running the device along the garment you're working on. However, if you want to deliver a short burst of steam to each area of the garment, quickly pressing the power button and letting go multiple times may be a better strategy for you. This method will also come in handy if you find it difficult to constantly hold down a button while operating your steaming tool with your other hand.
After you're done using this device, for the time being, let it cool for 15 minutes before putting it away, if its red indicator light is still on. If the device has stopped emitting steam and the indicator light is off, unplug it anyway. Otherwise, it may begin to heat up again later without any action from you. Then, you or some unsuspecting person may come along, touch it, and end up with hot fingers.
There's no reason that you'll ever need to touch the steaming pad—the one that you run over your clothes while ironing—of this device. If you do touch it, you could end up getting burned. Always hold the Steam N Press by its skinny handle instead, and instruct anyone else who might be using yours to do the same.
