Starbelly Dreamlites are stuffed animals with light-up bellies that have been designed to provide a child with a bit of soothing light before they go off to sleep. When you push the belly of one of these stuffed toys, it's stated that the toy will start projecting a moving pattern of shapes (such as stars and hearts) onto the wall and ceiling. There are 10 different characters available, in varying bright colors, and each one's light will automatically shut off after 20 minutes.
The cost of Starbelly Deamlites is $29.99 plus $6.99 shipping for a total price of $36.98.

Before you can use a Starbelly Dreamlites toy to its full capacity, you'll need to open it up and add 3 AAA batteries. Otherwise, its light won't work. The batteries won't be included with each toy, so you'll have to obtain them yourself.
Once the appropriate batteries have been added, have your child take their toy to bed to cuddle, as they would an ordinary stuffed toy. They're soft, and they're about the same size as a standard stuffed animal, so they shouldn't take up too much space in any bed.
Next, have your child push their toy's belly, which will cause it to light up. Following that, you'll notice that it's projecting a pattern across the bedroom's wall and ceiling. This pattern will be made up of shapes such as stars, hearts, dots, rainbows, and animal faces. Instead of staying stagnant, it'll actually move across the wall and ceiling as your child looks on. To change the color of the light and the pattern, your child will have to keep pressing their toy's belly to cycle through all the available colors.
After you've helped your child light up their stuffed toy, it's best to leave and let them go to sleep. The toy's light will automatically shut off after 20 minutes to conserve battery power. If your child is still awake, they'll be able to turn the light back on, but if they're sleeping, they'll be able to comfortably cuddle the toy without using its light.
When it comes to obtaining a Starbelly Dreamlite toy, your child will have 10 different characters to choose from, including a unicorn, a dinosaur, a puppy, a dragon, and more. All of the characters have a distinct look and are dressed in bright, attractive colors. None of them have been assigned a name or a gender, so your child can choose those things on their own, which will encourage them to be imaginative.
No matter which character you obtain, it'll be able to give off six different colors of light, including green, white, pink, amber, and two different shades of blue. Each character will also give off a slightly different pattern than the next, although the patterns will look similar. Depending on your child's preferences, they may want to light their toy up in the same color every night, or they might prefer to cycle through all the colors in a day or week instead.
Even though each of these toys contains a compartment to hold batteries inside its belly, that won't get in the way of each one's softness or cuddliness. When your child is hanging onto one of them in bed, they should feel as if they're cuddling an ordinary stuffed animal without special inner mechanisms. The plush body of each one is a generous size, but not large enough to overwhelm or scare a smaller child of two or three years old.
If you're a parent or caregiver, you may often become annoyed by light-up toys because the children under your care leave them on and then their batteries burn out. That won't be the case with the Starbelly Dreamlites, though, as each stuffed toy will automatically shut its illumination function off after 20 minutes. Due to this attribute, one set of batteries may actually last you for years within this type of toy.
A child who's afraid of the dark may not feel comfortable going to bed in a completely dark room, but keeping a bright overhead or desktop lamp on might simply keep them awake. Fortunately, a Starbelly Dreamlite stuffed toy will provide a fearful child with just enough light to make them feel comfortable, but not enough to cause insomnia. If they do have a bit of trouble going to sleep, watching their toy's projected pattern move may relax them enough that they drift off more quickly.
Some children are uncomfortable sleeping in an unfamiliar bed at a hotel or a friend or relative's house, but allowing them to bring along a Starbelly Dreamlite from home can offer them some comfort. When they notice that the toy will create the same patterns on the ceiling in their temporary room as it does at home, this will likely make them feel more secure. With increased feelings of security, they probably won't have nightmares at their new location. A child can also cuddle their toy or use it as a makeshift pillow on a long car ride.
While one of these stuffed toys can make a child happy, there's no rule that you can't get more than one. In fact, obtaining a few of them will encourage creativity in your child, as they can play pretend by making the characters talk to each other and otherwise interact. If you don't have the necessary space or financial resources required to get all 10 toys, you could seek out other children who have different characters from your child. Then, you could have the children get together to play.
You'll have to obtain your own initial set of batteries for each Starbelly Dreamlite toy you get for a child, as no batteries are included with any of these toys. Any replacement sets of batteries will have to be obtained independently by you, too, and if you run out of suitable batteries, you may have a disappointed child on your hands.
Eventually, the lightbulb in your child's Starbelly Dreamlite toy(s) will burn out and won't turn on again, even if you load the toy with a new set of batteries. It's unclear if the lightbulb in each toy is replaceable or not, and how easy that is—if it's difficult or impossible, you may have to obtain a whole new version of a particular character instead.
This type of toy isn't one that's been designed to get wet, so you should avoid getting any water or liquid on yours if at all possible. If you feel the need to wash one of them, consult the fabric care instructions and your instruction manual before cleaning it in any way.
