The Solar Monster Zapper is a device that's meant to kill mosquitos and other bugs in your chosen outdoor area so they don't end up biting you or others around you. It's been specifically designed with outdoor use in mind, given the fact that it resembles a portable lantern and is solar-powered. However, if you're able to charge it outdoors in the sun for a few hours first, you may also be able to use the device for bug control purposes indoors.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Hang, Place or Stake

You'll need to first set up your Solar Monster Zapper during the daytime, when the sun is out, so it can soak up some rays and continue to work through the evening. You can either use the attached retractable handle to hang it from something, place it flat on its base or stake it into the ground with the included one-foot stake. If you're looking to hang it, you may want to hang it from a small tree branch or a metal hook that you've installed in a place of your choice.

  2. Let it Charge

Once the device has charged for up to a few hours in the sun, the powerful UV light within it will turn on and begin to attract mosquitos and other bugs. It'll be able to attract them from all corners of an average-sized yard, and once they fly or crawl into the device, they'll end up getting zapped.

  3. Enjoy Bug-free Environment

Eventually, your device will end up dramatically reducing the number of bugs in your outdoor environment, or even eliminating them altogether, so you'll be able to enjoy some bug-free fun or relaxation. If your device's power band runs out of energy and stops working at any point, you'll simply need to leave the device out in the sun for up to a few hours to recharge it.

How It Works

Mosquitos and other pesky bugs tend to be attracted to UV light and will naturally gravitate towards it. That's why, when the UV light within your Solar Monster Zapper turns on, bugs will automatically flock to it, only to be zapped when they approach the light inside. Often, zapping tools like this one are powered by traditional electricity, but this one is powered by a built-in solar band that's able to store the sun's energy. After it has harnessed enough energy from the sun, it'll be able to power both the UV light and the device's zapping function for hours at a time. Each device's solar band is inconspicuously located at the top, near the handle.

Features

  • Compact and Portable

The Solar Monster Zapper is about the same size as an old-fashioned lantern, so most people will be able to carry it from place to place on their property in one hand. When you're not using your device's retractable handle to hang it from something, you'll be able to use that handle for carrying purposes. You may find this handle especially useful if you want to carry your device down the street to a friend's house, a park or another public location, too. Due to the device's solar-powered nature, you won't need to worry about dragging along an extension cord.

  • One-Foot Stake Included

In case you want to stake your mosquito and bug control device directly into your lawn, each one comes with a one-foot stake that you can attach to the body of the device. Once you stake it into the grass in a place that you've chosen, you'll be able to quickly pull up the stake and move it if bug control becomes more necessary in a different location. Just make sure you push the stake at least a couple of inches into the ground each time, so there's no great risk of the device falling over.

  • Finger-Safe Casing

Each Solar Monster Zapper's outer shell is made up of finger-safe casing, which means that no one will be able to stick their fingers into the device far enough to get zapped. Pets won't be able to stick their paws in far enough for that to happen, either. The presence of this type of casing may come as a relief to parents of small children since most children seem to have a penchant for sticking their fingers into new things.

  • Converts to Soft Lantern

If this device isn't needed as a bug zapper any longer, you'll be able to convert its UV light into a lantern that gives off soft white light with the push of a button. This device is resistant to weather damage, so as a lantern, it can be used during any season.

Positive Points

  • No Batteries, Electricity

Since this device is solar-powered, you'll never have to be concerned about keeping ready-to-go batteries on hand or finding an electrical outlet to plug your device into. That means you'll be able to use it virtually anywhere in your yard, regardless of whether you're far from any electrical outlets you may have on the exterior of your home. It'll also be an ideal thing to use on a camping trip if you've rented a campsite that offers little to no electrical power since you'll still have access to the power of the sun.

  • Eliminates Need for Bug Spray

If you don't have any sort of bug-trapping device around, you might have to apply layer upon layer of stinky bug spray in order to keep mosquitos and other pesky insects away from you. Those people who have children may have to do the same thing for them so the kids don't end up with tons of bites. However, once you've got a Solar Monster Zapper nearby, you may be able to stop wearing bug spray altogether. This device may be able to trap bugs so quickly and effectively that they won't be able to get near any human skin.

Negative Points

  • Cruel to Bugs

If the humane treatment of mosquitos and other insects is important to you, you might be disappointed to find out that the bugs that enter this device get killed almost instantly. Instead of this particular trap, you might choose to use a different one that just captures the bugs without killing them, so they can be released later.

  • May Require Frequent Cleaning

At the end of a single day, it's highly likely that hundreds of dead bugs will have been collected by your Solar Monster Zapper. Therefore, you'll likely have to take the top off your device and dump it out at least every couple of weeks. Cleaning any bug residue off the walls may be a difficult or impossible task since you must keep your fingers away from each device's UV light at all times.
