The Blue Diamond Sizzle Griddle is a countertop kitchen appliance that's meant to serve as two appliances in one: a griddle and a grill. As its name indicates, it's specified that the two non-stick cooking plates found within each device are infused with diamonds, which makes these plates hard, long-lasting and good at transferring heat. You can either use one cooking surface at once or open the device up fully to gain access to both.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Place on Flat Surface

First, you'll have to find a flat surface for your Blue Diamond Sizzle Griddle to rest on. Due to the fact that it'll require electricity to run, you'll need to have an electrical outlet close by. You can use this type of device in any room, or even outdoors, as long as you'll have the ability to plug it into electricity.

  2. Turn on Appliance

Once your appliance is plugged in, and you've got some food items to add to it, you can then twist the black dial on the front to power it up and select a heat setting. There are four settings, ranging from low to maximum searing (the highest setting available). If you're not sure which setting to choose for a particular food item, consult the included recipe book or start with the lowest setting. You may need to let the appliance heat up a bit before adding your food to either of its plates—check your instructional material to verify this.

  3. Add Food to Plates

If you'd like to use your appliance as a flat-top griddle, leave the lid open and add food to one or both of the cooking plates. On the other hand, to use it as a grill, add food to only the bottom plate and then close the lid. Use your recipe book, trial-and-error or your own cooking experience to determine how long you'll cook a particular food item for. If you've closed your device's lid, you can always open it again to check on your food.

  4. Remove Food

When your food is done cooking, use your choice of utensil to remove it from your device's cooking plate(s). It's safe to use metal utensils on these cooking surfaces, so you won't have to stick to plastic or wood. Next, move the food to plates or dishes for serving purposes and turn off your appliance with the black dial. Whether you leave it plugged in or not is up to you.

How It Works

This appliance can be highly effective as a grill because of its diamond-infused ceramic cooking plates and the fact that these plates will come in contact with every square inch of your food. People often choose to place copper grill mats on their barbecue grills to improve heat conduction, but the diamond-infused cooking surfaces within this appliance are actually four times better than those at transferring heat. Furthermore, while most grills will only touch your food where grill lines are to be made, this one will make contact with every last bit of your food when the lid is closed. In turn, this will lead to better browning and searing. If you choose to forgo the lid and use this appliance as an open griddle instead, it'll be able to effectively mimic the flat-top cooking surfaces that are commonly used in restaurants.

  • Fairly Compact

Although each Blue Diamond Sizzle Griddle is larger than your average toaster oven, each one is significantly smaller than a standard barbecue grill. As a result, most users will be able to move this appliance from place to place inside (or even outside) their home, when needed. If you'd like to take advantage of its cooking capabilities while you're away from home, it also won't take up any more space than a small suitcase in your vehicle.

  • Toxin-Free

This cooking appliance is free of all toxins, such as the potentially harmful chemical compounds PFOA and PFAS, along with lead and cadmium. Therefore, you can use this appliance with the knowledge that you won't be exposing yourself (or anyone else you've cooked for) to toxic materials. The same can't be said for every piece of kitchenware, as some still contain harmful toxins like PFOA.

  • Durable Non-stick Coating

Each appliance's two cooking plates are covered in a non-stick, diamond-infused ceramic coating that's five times harder than a copper coating and can be expected to last 10 times longer. Even if these surfaces are exposed to a variety of metal utensils, they won't end up getting scratched. Consequently, you can expect to use this grill for at least a few years, if not decades—without ever having to add lubricants, such as butter or oil, to its plates.

  • Drip Cups Included

With each of these appliances, you'll receive two drip cups. If you place one of these at the bottom right-hand corner of your device, it'll catch any excess fat or grease that drains off your food as it cooks. Once your drip cup is full, you'll be able to dispose of the fat and grease instead of consuming it in the form of extra calories within your meal.

Positive Points

  • Can be Useful at Every Meal

While some cooking appliances will only cook certain foods, such as pieces of meat or sandwiches, this one can be used to cook virtually anything. That means it can be useful at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, regardless of whether you want to eat meat, fish, sandwiches, eggs, vegetables or something else entirely. With the lid open, it can even be used as a pizza pan or a sheet for cooking desserts that include fruit or chocolate.

  • Deluxe Version Available

If you want to do even more with your Blue Diamond Sizzle Griddle, you might choose to obtain the deluxe version. This version comes with four extra plates, including two plates that'll create grill lines on your food and two that'll create waffle-like lines. Keep in mind, though, that in order to use these additional interchangeable plates, you'll have to temporarily remove the original flat plates from your device.

Critical Advice

Wiping down your appliance's cooking plates with just water is sometimes acceptable if you don't have a dishwasher, but sometimes they'll need a deeper cleaning. If you've cooked meat or dairy products with this appliance, it's a good idea to remove the plates and wash them with soap and water in your sink. This will get rid of any food residue that's been left behind, so you won't run the risk of getting food poisoning.

Save Money

This appliance may be able to mimic the taste of your favorite grilled restaurant meals so well that you don't want to visit restaurants as frequently. Restaurants tend to charge more for the same ingredients than grocery stores do, so using your own ingredients to cook at home will likely cause more cash to remain in your wallet.

Blue Diamond Deluxe Sizzle Griddle

I got this the other day and I have to say it is cheaply made. I can't open the top to lay it flat. I tried it to warm something up and it kept trying to slide out. I then tried a steak, it took a long time to sear at the highest temperature, and it was cooked too much for me.
When I went to wash it by hand, I had to scrub it, to get the food off.
I am returning it ASAP and ordering a better made one.

Blue Diamond Sizzle Don't Waste Your Money

What can I say that's positive? Oh yeah, it's blue. Other than that, It's cheaply made, doesn't sit even so the grease doesn't drain, Cooking bacon is like watching a pot of water boil. Save some money and buy a frying pan because this one sucks.
