Is Silver Double Eagle $2 Coin a scam or a great buy?
The 2020 Silver Double Eagle Coin is a collector's coin made almost completely of silver. This coin features two soaring American Bald Eagles on the front, and the Cook Islands' stamp, or imprimatur, on the back along with the Liberty Bell. Two dollars is its stamped face value. The large eagles in flight on the front, or obverse, of the coin, take it up almost entirely with their spread wings and large heads. They soar towards the left edge of the coin if you are looking directly at it. You can see what is normally the white "hood" of the bald eagle on each one, and feathers are engraved on the eagles. On the reverse, the woman's face silhouetted in the Liberty Bell with the Cook Islands imprimatur is Queen Elizabeth II.
The cost of Silver Double Eagle $2 Coin is $19.95 plus $4.95 shipping for a total price of $24.90.

The coin is made with 0.999 pure silver. It weighs 0.5 ozt. "Ozt" is the designation for a Troy Ounce, which is different from an ordinary, or "avoirdupois" ounce, like you would use in cooking. Troy ounces are heavier than ordinary ounces and used to designate the weights of precious metals. The 2020 Silver Double Eagle is larger and purer than its United States predecessor, the Morgan silver dollar.
These collectors' coins are the only "silver" coins remaining with pure silver in them. Since 1965, coins such as dimes, nickels, and quarters have been made with a silver-colored, nickel-copper alloy.
2020 is the first year this coin has been minted. The coin is endorsed by Reagan-era treasurer and 37th Treasurer of the United States, Angela "Bay" Buchanan. Buchanan started the program of minting silver bullion coins in the United States, the Silver Eagle Bullion Program. It began in 1986. She imagined the design of the Silver Double Eagle when she started the program, and it has ultimately been realized this year.
The Cook Islands are not part of the United States, but loosely governed by New Zealand. However, the coin highlights a partnership with the Cook Islands. The coin was created by a collaboration between the National Collectors Mint and the Cook Islands government.
The images on the front and back of the 2020 Silver Double Eagle coin are known as frosted reliefs. Frosting means the reliefs are matte. This effect is reached by the Treasury's making tiny marks on the surface of the coin. The background is reflective, mirror-like, and the style is known as silver proof.
The general category of these silver bullion coins, the American Silver Eagles, is the most popular, number 1 selling silver bullion coin in the world.
A display case is available for this coin. Using a display case will not only show off the coin, but protect it from tarnish.
The 2020 Silver Double Eagle coin comes with a Certificate of Authenticity certifying it is silver, the percentage of silver in the coin, and that it is legal tender.
Like all true silver, silver bullion coins will tarnish if exposed to the open air, moisture, or both over time.
Non-circulating legal tender, such as this coin, costs more than its face value. You could use it to buy something if you wanted to, but it is a collector's item that collectors expect to go up in value. Interested individuals invest in silver bullion for the future. This coin will appeal to hobbyists and those who invest in currency as a liquid investment that can be kept at home or in a safe. It is not mass-printed by the Treasury for everyday use.
These coins are to be collected and if the collector decides to do so, displayed with or without a case, as a unique version of the popular collectors' and investors' coin the American Silver Eagle.
