Is Gotham Steel Sandwich Solo a scam or a great buy?
The Gotham Steel Sandwich Solo is a compact electric device that's been created with the aim of allowing people to grill a sandwich without using a frying pan. This device appears to be smaller than a toaster, and it's specified that grilling a sandwich within it will only take minutes. Both the top and bottom cooking surfaces have been designed so that food will be unlikely to stick to them, which means you may not have much clean-up to do when you're done cooking.
The cost of Gotham Steel Sandwich Solo is $19.99 and the shipping is FREE!

Before you can use your Gotham Steel Sandwich Solo, you'll need to assemble a sandwich (including the bread and all the fillings) that you want to grill within it. You can either plug the electrical device in and turn it on before you assemble that sandwich, or wait until afterward.
It's probably a good idea to give your device a few minutes to heat up after it's been plugged in, and then you can place your assembled sandwich face-up inside. Be sure that the device's legs are resting securely on a flat surface, like a countertop—if they're facing upward, you've got the device sitting upside down and will need to flip it over.
Next, you can close the lid of your device, making sure the clip at the front is fastened tightly after you do so, and grill your sandwich. If you're not sure exactly how long to grill a particular type of sandwich for, consult your instruction manual or use trial and error. Do not open the device while you're grilling, as this will cause the grilling process to come to a stop until the lid is closed again.
When you think your sandwich is done, you can open your grill's lid to stop the cooking process and remove the sandwich. If you tip your grilling device just a bit to the side, the sandwich should slide right out onto a plate. Otherwise, you can use a utensil, such as a set of tongs, to remove the sandwich from the grill without burning your fingers.
If you won't be making any more sandwiches for a while, it's best to unplug your device. After about a half-hour has passed and it has cooled down, you can wipe out any food residue that's been left behind with a cloth that's been dampened with water. However, because of the grill's non-stick surface, there may not be much residue to wipe.
As alluded to above, this grilling device looks to be smaller than most toasters, so it won't take up much space on your countertop. Plus, if you flip it closed and store it vertically, it'll take up about the same amount of space as a mug would in one of your kitchen cabinets. If you want to bring your Gotham Steel Sandwich Solo to a location away from home that offers electricity, it won't take up a lot of space in your vehicle, either.
Every Gotham Steel Sandwich Solo is black, a shade that's fairly gender and age-neutral and tends to look good with the decor in the majority of kitchens.
The ceramic plates on both the lid and the base will heat any sandwich that you put into this grilling device, so you won't ever have to flip a sandwich to cook it evenly. On the other hand, if you were to cook a sandwich in a frying pan, you'd likely have to flip it or end up with one burnt side and one pale side.
The non-stick nature of this grilling device's cooking surfaces means that you'll never have to add butter or oil to any of them to help your food slide out. Instead, it'll slide out on its own, while leaving little to no food residue behind for you to clean up. On a related note, the device's particular size and shape will also help fillings stay inside each sandwich instead of spilling out and creating a mess.
The Gotham Steel Sandwich Solo hasn't been designed to grill just one type of sandwich, such as an egg panini. If you can fit your sandwich into the device, it'll be able to grill it, regardless of the type of bread and ingredients you've used. In fact, you can even add other things besides sandwiches to the device, such as beaten eggs and cake batter, in order to cook things like omelets and desserts.
By keeping butter and oil out of your food, you'll automatically be eating a healthier diet than you would be if you were to use those ingredients. Therefore, you may lose weight or simply improve your general health by using a Gotham Steel Sandwich Solo instead of a frying pan that needs to be lubricated. Furthermore, this type of device will cook a sandwich so quickly that you may no longer be tempted to stop at a fast-food place for a high-calorie snack on the way home.
With each Gotham Steel Sandwich Solo that you obtain, you'll get an egg pan that has the same coating inside as each grilling device. That means you'll be able to cook eggs in the pan while you're grilling a sandwich to accompany them in your electrical device. Each egg pan has a fairly thick handle with a small hole at the end that's been included to allow you to hang it from a hook.
There's no way to operate one of these grilling devices with batteries, so you'll need access to electricity in order to use yours properly. Unfortunately, this means that if you're headed to a cottage or a campsite without electricity, this won't be a highly useful device for you to bring along. The same goes if you'll be at a job site in which you won't have access to an electrical outlet in your lunchroom.
The Gotham Steel Sandwich Solo's base and lid have a design that's made up of two triangles each, so the device will automatically cut your sandwiches in half as it cooks them. When you open up your device, each cooked sandwich will be halved, with no further action from you. However, if your preference is to have a sandwich that's cut in quarters, the device can do this, too. Simply rotate your cooked sandwich with a quarter turn in either direction and close the device's lid again. When you open it up, you'll immediately see a sandwich that's been cut into quarters.

Have not bought one of these, but the design seems a quasi-ripoff of the Croque Monsieur (ling? Toasted sandwich iron, which must go back a century or more at this point, and is still around. I think it is made of aluminum and is pretty inexpensive. The C.M. Works quite well, is not difficult to clean, and **no nonstick coating is involved or required.** The only issue with it is that I wish it was somewhat larger, for a slightly larger toasted sandwich result. But perhaps it exists in more than one size?
Anyway, I did not realize until now that Gotham Steel apparently makes a whole family of nonstick kitchen pans, grills, and etc. But given the overwhelmingly poor reviews for their fry pans, I think I'll give them all a pass.
