River Walkers are tactical socks for men and women that'll keep your feet warm, dry and clean even when they're exposed to water, snow or ice. Their design has been inspired by the socks worn by members of the military, and they're ideal for people who often work outdoors, such as mail carriers and first responders. People who are fans of hiking, running, biking or water sports will also find them helpful. Each set of socks includes two pairs.
The cost of River Walkers is $19.99 plus $6.99 shipping, for a total price of $26.98. Price is from As Seen on TV Commercial page: buyriverwalkers.com
Each pair of these socks contains a weatherproof membrane that'll keep water and any kind of dirt from seeping through and coming in contact with your feet. The membrane is flexible, making the socks comfortable and stretchy, and the socks' material will also keep your feet warm in cool or cold weather. When you come indoors and pull them off, your feet should be as dry, clean and warm as they were before you headed out.
The River Walkers come in a combination of three shades, including dark gray, light gray and yellow, giving them a bold, athletic appearance. Since most socks don't come in this combination of shades, you'll be able to quickly tell these ones apart from your regular pairs when looking through a basket of laundry.
On the majority of users, these socks will come up at least a couple of inches past the ankle, so along with your feet, they'll protect your lower calves from water and dirt.
When obtaining a set of these socks, which'll contain two pairs, you'll be able to choose between three unisex sizes: small, medium and large. A small is suitable for people with a shoe size between 6 and 8.5, while a medium will fit people with a shoe size between 9 and 11. Anyone who wears a shoe size larger than 12 should get a size large.
Wearing a pair of these socks is a good choice if you're participating in any outdoor activity, whether it's a quiet one like bird-watching on a trail or a more intense one like cross-country running. Even if you participate in sports that require you to be incredibly close to water, such as water-skiing, canoeing or kayaking, the socks will be able to keep your feet dry and comfortable. With dry feet and socks, you'll likely be able to continue your favorite outdoor activity for a longer period of time without having to stop and change or go inside to warm up.
River Walkers will also come in handy if you have a job that requires you to be outdoors for long periods of time. This could include pure physical labor or something in the public service like mail carrying or firefighting. Since these socks will prevent your feet from becoming wet and cold on a regular basis, you may find that you're more productive on the job and don't require as many sick days as usual. You might find yourself enjoying the job more, too.
The membrane of these socks will stop common forms of dirt you might step in, such as mud, grease or wet paint, from getting through to your feet inside. That means you won't find ugly stains on your feet that you'll need to scrub away when you take your socks off.
Regardless of where you are or what you're doing, having wet feet can be a hazard, since they may cause you to slip and fall. Therefore, preventing this sort of wetness by wearing River Walkers socks will automatically make you safer and less prone to injury at all times. Although you may be wearing boots or shoes that have gotten wet, the socks will always be dry, so your risk of injury will still be lower than with wet socks and shoes/boots.
It'd be nice if there was a version of these socks available that extended to the knee, as some outdoor activities and occupations require people to wade knee-deep into water. If you must do this, your River Walkers will protect your feet and lower calves, but above the lower calf area, you could become soaking wet and possibly cold.
Since children often get wet and cold feet due to playing outside in the snow or rain, it would also be helpful if these socks came in children's sizes. However, they do not, and even though a child with large feet may be able to wear the smallest size for adults, that size'll be too big for a lot of children.
If even a small hole forms in the membrane of one of these socks, they may not do their job effectively any longer, which means they may let water or dirt touch your feet. You will be able to mend holes by sewing them up, but after this, the socks still might not be as effective as they were in the beginning.
When you wear River Walkers instead of standard pairs of socks to do outdoor activities, you'll no longer have to spend time wringing out wet socks and warming up cold, wet feet when you're done.
