How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Turn On Device

The first step to using this listening device is turning it on by using the power button in the bottom right-hand corner. In the event that it won't turn on, this means the lithium-ion battery inside needs to be charged. You'll be able to charge it by plugging the smaller end of the included USB cable into your device and the larger end into a computer.

  2. Select Show and Listen

Once your device is powered on, you can either listen to the first show that comes up or cycle through them by using the arrow buttons to the left of the power button. After you select a show, you'll be able to simply listen to it as you would on an ordinary radio.

  3. Pause or Turn Off

After you're finished listening for a while, turn off your listening device by holding down the power button again. There's also the option to pause a show by quickly pressing the power button once, so you can quickly return to a particular point in that show later. However, keep in mind that this means your device will stay on and its battery will continue to run.

Features

  • Compact

Each Real American Radio Classics player isn't much larger than the average smartphone, so all of these devices are very portable and can be carried in one hand. One will fit inside any backpack and nearly any handbag, and you may choose to listen to yours in the car, too. Plus, each device is blue, so if you also have a smartphone, you'll be able to quickly tell the two apart if they're in a bag that's crowded with stuff.

  • Good Sound Quality

When you play audio on some smartphones, the speaker can offer a bit too much treble in comparison to bass, and therefore sound squeaky or tinny, but this classic radio show player offers high-quality sound. Since radio could sound fuzzy in the old days, the voices of your favorite stars might sound even better on this device than they did then.

  • Headphone Jack

If you're at home alone, you'll probably want to listen to your device without headphones, but if you want to listen near others without disturbing them, each device has a headphone jack. You don't need a specific type of headphone set to plug into this jack, either—virtually any set will fit.

  • Rechargeable Battery

The lithium-ion battery within each Real American Radio Classics player can be recharged dozens or even hundreds of times without breaking down, and a USB charging cable is included with each device. As a result, you'll never have to obtain a replacement battery during the radio player's lifetime.

  • Two Volumes

There's actually another volume in this collection, and you'll be able to choose whether you obtain just the first volume or the first and second. Both contain an entertaining mix of shows, such as Westerns, mysteries, and musical performances. It should be noted that your second volume will come on a similar but separate device.

Positive Points

  • Ideal for Seniors

One of these classic radio players is ideal for seniors who enjoyed the classic radio programs on it in their younger years but don't want to go online to find recordings of them. These players may contain shows that aren't currently available online, anyhow. If you get an older family member or friend one as a gift on a special occasion, they'll likely be delighted with it, regardless of their gender or interests. Instead of offering only a narrow selection of shows, the Real American Radio Classics player includes some shows that will appeal to almost any person.

  • Eliminates Need for CDs

Regardless of your age, carrying CDs to listen to in the car can be a pain. Fortunately, if you obtain a Real American Radio Classics player, it may contain some of the old radio shows you have on CD (plus more). If so, that means you'll no longer need to carry as many CDs around. The player probably weighs about as much as one or two CDs, so that'll definitely lighten your load.

  • Can Be Educational

Children probably wouldn't look up classic radio shows on the internet on their own, but if you've got a classic radio player, they may listen to it with you. This will not only entertain them but also educate them about an earlier time period, providing them with different information than the political names and dates they'd learn in school.

Negative Points

  • Need Computer for Charging

Although you won't need a computer or smartphone in order to listen to the content on your radio player, you will need a computer to plug its USB cable into in order to charge it. There's no other way of recharging the battery, so if you don't have access to a computer or don't want to use one, this won't be the ideal device for you.

  • Can't Add More Shows

If you're a user of this radio player who does like to go online, you will not be able to download more material and add it to your device. You'll always be limited to the 200 shows that come with each one. Even if you've got both volumes, there's no way to consolidate them into one, so if you want access to the shows on both, you'll need to have both with you.

  • No Second Volume Alone

Anyone who wants the second volume of this collection only, perhaps because they've seen a friend's and that volume appeals to them more than the first, will be out of luck. You can get the first volume on its own, but to get the second, you also have to get the first.

Save Time

Even if you enjoy the internet, downloading your chosen material can take hours and you may not be able to download some classic radio shows in their entirety. If you obtain a Real American Radio Classics audio player instead, you'll have 200 radio shows ready in your hand and you won't have to wait for downloads to finish in order to play them. You also won't need to spend time transferring downloaded files from your computer to a more portable device (like a smartphone), if that's a usual step in your downloading process.
