The PowerXL Cordless Iron & Steamer is the same re-branded iron as the PheonixGold Freeflight Cordless Iron. This iron has been designed to give you the same level of performance as a standard corded iron—but without the cord; as well as containing the dual function of a steamer. It's meant to be used on a wide variety of fabrics, such as cotton, wool, silk, and various synthetics. Plus, it's specified that you can even steam clothes and other fabric items with it while they're hanging up. Each tool also comes with a charging dock that's been made to allow you to recharge it in just eight seconds.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Plug the Charging Dock In

To get started with this tool, you'll need to plug the included charging dock into electricity and then place the tool securely on the dock. Once you've done this, the tool's non-stick ceramic plate should heat up and be ready to use in 30 seconds.

  2. Iron or Steam a Fabric Item

After 30 seconds on the charging dock have passed, you can use your tool to iron or steam your first item. For ironing, it's best that you place the item on an ironing board in front of you, but for steaming, it can be left hanging up or sitting wherever it was originally. If you're ironing, you should hold down the power button (on the underside of the handle) to provide yourself with a steady flow of steam. On the other hand, for steaming, you can press and release the button multiple times to let out shorter bursts of steam.

  3. Recharge (optional)

Once you're done ironing your first item, you'll be able to move it out of the way and move on to a second, if necessary. However, you'll likely need to place your ironing and steaming tool in the charging dock for about eight seconds in order to recharge it. Otherwise, it might run out of steam while you're working on the second object. In fact, if you plan on working with multiple garments (or other things made from fabric), you'll probably have to recharge your tool in between each job.

  4. Unplug Dock

When you've finished ironing or steaming all the garments or fabric items that need it, unplug the charging dock and store your ironing and steaming tool within it. If you've gotten out an ironing board, you can either leave the dock and the tool on the board or fold the board up and stash it away. The dock and tool will be able to sit on the floor or on another flat surface if an ironing board is not available.

Features

  • Cordless Experience

With most irons, you'll be limited as to how far you can travel by the length of your power cord, and you'll have to drag it along with you as you move. You won't have to use a power cord with your PowerXL Iron & Steamer, though, so you'll have more freedom of movement. You'll be able to move from the top to the bottom of a garment without worrying about pulling a cord out of the wall, and you'll be able to steam curtains without taking them down.

  • Will Plug Into Dock

On the flip side, if you do want a traditional ironing experience with this tool, plugging it into the dock and using it with the included cord is an option. You might choose to go this route if you think you won't have to move very far to complete a particular job, as it'll relieve you from having to recharge the device intermittently.

  • Non-Stick Plate

The ceramic plate on the bottom of each tool is of a non-stick nature, so no pieces of fabric will get stuck to it, regardless of what type of fabric you're ironing or steaming. If you accidentally melt some plastic that's attached to a particular garment (such as a plastic button), that won't even get stuck to the plate.

  • Tapered Precision Tip

The tapered precision tip of this tool will enable you to iron and steam with great accuracy, which means you'll be unlikely to miss a square inch of any piece of fabric you're working on. This type of tip will come in especially handy when you want to add creases to specific areas of a top's sleeves or the legs of a pair of pants.

  • Self-Cleaning

If you don't power some traditional irons down and clean them regularly, calcium and limescale deposits may gather on the surface of the plate. This, in turn, can shorten an iron's life. Fortunately, this iron and steaming tool is self-cleaning, so you'll be able to get rid of any calcium or limescale with a press of the white trapezoid-shaped button.

PowerXL Cordless Iron = PheonixGold Freeflight

The PowerXL Cordless Iron & Steamer is the same iron as the PheonixGold Freeflight.

Positive Points

  • Works Quickly

The plate of each PowerXL Cordless Iron & Steamer has 19 strategically placed steam-releasing points and four steam-burst canals. This will enable it to smooth out creases and wrinkles in any piece of fabric so quickly that you may be able to iron any garment in just one pass. Furthermore, the tapered precision tip will enable you to travel between buttons and other fasteners or decals at a rapid, efficient pace.

  • Not Just for Clothing

For more people, irons are most commonly used to smooth out clothing, but this tool isn't meant to be used on clothing only. As mentioned, you can use this device to steam drapes without even taking them down, and you can also use it to deodorize and sanitize things like fabric toys or throw pillows. When you use it on these small items, you won't even have to take the time to move them from their original resting places. Instead, you can carry your cordless tool directly over to them and start steaming!

Negative Points

  • Single Charge Won't Last Long

While this iron and steaming tool will be ready to go quickly, it appears that it'll typically need to be recharged after a person has used it to iron or steam only one object. It would be fantastic if a single charge could last a bit longer, especially since many people might want to use the tool to smooth out large fabric items. If you're going to be ironing a whole suit or a set of drapes, you might end up having to recharge the tool when you're only half-done.

Save Money

If you've got clothes that are labeled as dry-clean-only, you might decide to use this tool to steam them instead of taking them to the dry cleaner's each time they're mildly dirty. Dry-cleaning fees can add up over time, so steaming these clothes (and any other fabric items that can't be washed) can help you keep some extra cash in your pocket. You also may not have to replace this ironing tool as often as you would an iron that doesn't include a self-cleaning function.

No Good

Bought 2 irons because I fell for the ". But wait! There's more!" line on TV. Figured I'd give one as a gift if the one I bought worked well. Upon receiving them, the first one had a bit of water in the tank. I opened the second one to see if that tank was dry. It wasn't. It too had water. I called to ask why and was told by a foreign person that it's supposed to have water. Really? I asked why. He simply replied, "That's how they come." Then I called customer service again the next day because when I first used it, it heated up fast when I first plugged it in. I used it and liked the steam pressure. The next morning when I tried to use it, it wouldn't work. I was told that you have to unplug it and plug it back in every time you use it. That's a big inconvenience for me. I like to leave my iron plugged in and ready to go. I also find it very inconvenient to put it back on the dock for 8 seconds after every couple of swipes of the iron because the steam dies. You can only press the steam button 3 or 4 times before it stops steaming. You can't even finish ironing and steaming one sleeve. What a waste of time. It also dripped tons of water from somewhere under the plate all over my clothes. I called to obtain a return authorization and prepaid shipping label. I was told they won't pay for shipping but will provide a refund if I sent it back at my cost. I reboxed both irons, took them to the UPS Store, and was told it would cost $39 each to ship it back to CT from CA. If I put them together in one box, it would cost $45. That's a little less than what I paid for the second iron! I brought them back home, bought a box to fit both of them, and sealed the box. I will ship them back tomorrow. Buyer beware! These irons are nothing but CRAP. The claim about free returns is total BS.I'm out over $50 for everything I had to buy and do to send this crap back.

I seen reviews of the Power XL Iron, the TV ad is not true, you have recharge the iron after one item, false advertising.

Very Inferior Looking and Poorly Packed

I received this iron with scratches water still in the tank. They also charge me for pad which I said I did not want. Try to exchange it. You have to send back first when they receive the iron and process it which could take up to 2 weeks. They will then send you a replacement. So if you have a problem with the iron jus forget about it. Buy a cheap one from Walmart because it will be about a month or more total waiting for this iron. I'll go with Panasonic receive in 5 days. Replacement overnight or 2 days. More durable better warranty. I just wanted to try the xl iron. But did not even plug it in after poor packing dirty iron water in iron scratches on iron. Charge for the item I did not order plus an additional $24 on credit card for some subscription I did not want and the headaches to get all this rectified not worth it. Buy from reputable companies. Not endorsing anyone. Just my experience. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Deceiving Advertisement - It Does Not Charge

The advertising gives the impression that the iron charges while on the "charging dock". There is no rechargeable, or battery of any kind in the iron itself so it can't charge. The iron surface heats up while on the docking station because it is plugged into an electrical outlet. You can then use it while it is hot, for a short time. Then you have to plug it into the docking station to get it hot again. It is never charging anything, just heating up the iron while in the dock.

There is no rechargeable, or battery of any kind in the iron itself so it can't charge. It Just gets hot while it is plugged into the dock, then you remove it and use it until it cools down, then put it back in the dock to get hot again.
