How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Set up Appliance

Before you can use your PowerXL Grill Air Fryer, you'll need to set it up by placing it on a flat table or countertop and plugging it into electricity. Each one has a 35-inch extension cord, so that should give you some flexibility when it comes to where you place it in your kitchen.

  2. Add Food to Pot

Next, add the food that you want to cook to your device's inner pot, without allowing it to spill over the edges. If you're going to be using the grill function, keep in mind that you'll need to add the included grill plate to the bottom of the pot first. To use the sous vide function, you'll also need to follow some specific instructions—if you're not familiar with sous vide cooking, consult your recipe book before you get ready to use this button.

  3. Add Lid and Start

After making sure that your inner pot is resting securely in your appliance, close the appliance's black lid or swap it for the included transparent lid instead. If you're unsure as to which lid to use with a particular cooking function, or a particular type of food, take a look at your recipe book. Once your device has been closed with a lid, select one of the 12 pre-set functions with the appropriate buttons, or use the time and temperature buttons to manually set a time and temperature yourself. Following that, press your appliance's "Start" button.

  4. Remove Food and Serve

When your device's timer goes off, open it up by removing whatever lid you've used, and if your food seems to be well-cooked, you can remove it and serve it. You should be wearing oven mitts while you open up the device, and you should remove the food inside with the utensils of your choice, as opposed to your hands. If you'd like, you can even pull the entire inner pot out in order to remove the food and transfer it to a serving plate. You don't need to turn the device off, as it has an automatic shut-off function.

How It Works

Depending on which cooking function you choose, this appliance will either cook food from above or below. Either way, it'll offer 1500 watts of power. When cooking from above, it'll send out a vortex of super-hot air that will encircle the food and cook it effectively from all sides. If you choose a function that'll prompt it to cook from below, a super-hot element will cause heat to rise up from the bottom of the device and cook the food inside quickly and evenly. No matter which function you select, you'll be able to cook almost any dish in minutes.

Features

  • Cooks Various Foods

While some countertop appliances will only cook a narrow range of foods, you can cook a wide variety of items in this one, such as meat, mixed vegetables, French fries, rice, and even baked desserts.

  • Wide Temperature Range

This appliance will also cook foods at temperatures ranging from 100 to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Most foods won't need to be cooked at a temperature that falls outside that range, so it follows that you'll be able to cook nearly any meal you want inside this device.

  • Six-Quart Capacity

Each PowerXL Grill Air Fryer will hold up to six quarts at once, which means that you'll be able to make enough food for an average-sized family or household to eat in one shift. Alternatively, if you were to use an appliance with a smaller capacity, you might have to cook a bit of food, remove it, and then cook a bit more.

  • Dishwasher Safe Pot

The inner pot found within the PowerXL Grill Air Fryer is removable and dishwasher safe, so if you have a dishwasher, you'll simply be able to slide it out of your appliance and load it. Each pot also has a non-stick surface, so it's unlikely that stubborn bits of food will ever cling on and need to be scraped off. If you don't have a dishwasher, though, don't worry—the pot can be hand-washed with soap and water, too.

  • Automatic Shut-off Function

Your appliance will automatically shut off after a certain period of time, so you won't have to worry about powering it down yourself after you use it. However, if you're going to be leaving the house, you may want to unplug it. Similarly, each appliance also has a keep-warm function and a timer delay function. You can use the timer delay function to delay the cooking process until a slightly later time. As for the keep-warm function, it's best to activate it if you want to leave food in the inner pot without allowing it to become cold.

Positive Points

  • Little to no Oil Required

Deep-fried food, especially the type that you'd get in a restaurant, is typically cooked in a whole lot of fatty, calorie-filled oil. When you use the PowerXL Grill Air Fryer, though, you can make food that tastes like deep-fried restaurant food while using little to no oil at all. By reducing your oil intake, you'll automatically reduce your intake of extra fat and calories, which may aid you with your weight loss or overall health goals.

  • No Need to go Outdoors

Along the same lines, with this kitchen appliance, you can make food that tastes like it's been barbecue-grilled without going outdoors. That means you won't have to stand outside in rainy or windy weather, nor will you need to scrape a grill clean before or after you cook your food. You will need to clean your appliance's grilling plate, but this plate is so compact that cleaning it won't take you as long as cleaning an outdoor grill would.

Critical Advice

Even if your appliance's inner pot doesn't look dirty after you've used it to cook something, you must clean it if meat, fish, or dairy products have been inside. Otherwise, invisible food residue that's left behind could cause you to get food poisoning the next time you use the pot. If you've only cooked vegetables, fruit, or rice in this device, it's acceptable to use the pot again without washing it, but you may want to rinse it to get rid of any left-behind flavors.

Grill Plate Coating Pealing Off

I emailed the company about the coating/paint coming off the grill plate. They recommended not using it < I find this alarming.
They did offer a replacement grill plate for $9.99.
