How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Place Base on Flat Surface

The PowerLegs Elliptical will come already assembled, so the first thing you'll need to do is place its non-slip base on a flat surface. It can be placed on a carpeted, tiled, or hardwood floor, and if you have access to a nearby electrical outlet outdoors, using it on cement is also an option.

  2. Power up the Elliptical

Once your elliptical is sitting on a flat surface, and you've turned it so that the display panel is facing you, you can plug it into electricity and turn it on. To turn it on, you'll be able to use the power button on the display panel, or the equivalent button on the included hand-held remote control. You'll also be able to control other settings with the panel or the remote, such as your pedaling direction and speed—for specific assistance with any of the buttons, consult your instruction manual.

  3. Start Pedaling

After ensuring that you're wearing comfortable athletic footwear, place your feet on the elliptical's slip-resistant pedals and begin to pedal forwards or backward. As you do so, you'll notice that the machine's display panel will track the time that's passed, the distance you've covered, your speed, and the number of calories you've burned. Continue pedaling for as long as you feel comfortable, regardless of whether you do so for just five minutes or an entire hour (or more!).

  4. Turn Off Machine

When you're done using this machine for a while, you'll need to turn it off by using the display panel or the remote control. Unplugging the machine when you're done exercising is optional, but you may want to do so if you think you won't be using it again during the same day. You can either leave the machine sitting where it is or slide it under a piece of furniture or into a closet for storage. The hand-held remote control should be placed in the machine's built-in slot (between the pedals and below the display panel) for safe-keeping.

Features

  • Lightweight

The PowerLegs Elliptical is very lightweight, in comparison to the larger elliptical trainers you'd find in a gym. For that reason, most users will likely be able to carry it around their home or office in just one hand. Each machine will also only take up about two or three feet of space in a vehicle if it needs to be transported between buildings.

  • Slip-Resistant Pedals and Base

The rubber base of each of these machines has been designed not to slip while you're using it, so it's unlikely that it'll ever go flying across the floor as you're pedaling. Likewise, the textured pedals are highly slip-resistant, too, which means that your feet will be unlikely to slide off the device at any point, either. With the machine and your feet remaining securely in place at all times, your safety while using this elliptical is nearly 100 percent guaranteed.

  • Two Pedaling Directions

When you're using this elliptical, you'll have the choice between pedaling backward or pedaling forward. While pedaling forward might feel more natural, and will give your quads a good workout, pedaling backward can target the muscles on the back of your legs more effectively. In order to work as many muscles throughout your legs as you possibly can, you may want to alternate between the two pedaling styles.

  • Whisper-Quiet Motor

Each PowerLegs Elliptical has a motor, but it's been designed to be whisper-quiet, so it won't disturb you or anyone else around you while you use this machine. Therefore, you'll be able to use yours at your desk in a busy office, or while others in your household are watching television, without being told to keep the noise level down. You'll also be able to carry on a phone conversation while working out the bottom half of your body with this elliptical.

Positive Points

  • Offers Low-impact Workout

Using the PowerLegs Elliptical won't involve any high-impact exercises such as running, jumping, or hopping, which can be hard on the knees and other joints. That makes this machine ideal for those people who desire a low-impact workout due to injuries, mobility issues, or just a personal preference. Furthermore, if you have no injuries to start with, a low-impact workout like the one this machine has to offer probably won't cause you to develop any.

  • No Gym Required

If you want to exercise more often, but you don't want to travel to a gym or you're embarrassed to work out in front of others, this machine may be a great choice for you. You'll be able to pull it out and use it whenever you have free time at home, and you'll be able to pedal at your own pace without worrying about what others are doing nearby. Plus, you'll have the ability to choose your own television program to watch, or your own audio recording to listen to, instead of having the gym choose one for you.

  • Will Hold Cell Phone

The pocket between this elliptical's pedals that's been made to hold the remote control will also hold a cell phone. If it's important for you to have your phone nearby as you exercise, you'll be able to slide it into this pocket along with the remote, so your workout won't make you miss a call.

Negative Points

  • Electricity Required

To use this machine properly, you'll have to plug it into electricity, as running it with batteries is not an option. That means you won't be able to use it in places where you don't have access to an electrical outlet. If you were to attempt to use the machine without plugging it into electricity first, the display panel wouldn't turn on and the pedals would be very difficult to move. It almost goes without saying that the remote control wouldn't work, either.

Critical Advice

On its own, this machine will work the legs only, which may be enough for people who haven't exercised much or are just getting back into it after a long break. However, if you want to exercise your arms along with your legs, you can do this by getting a set of dumbbells and doing bicep curls or simple arm raises as you pedal. If you find this a bit too hard, you can even swing your arms back and forth in front of you without adding any extra weight.
