This supportive brace is comfortable and gives you an extra kick in your step.
This brace works by way of specially designed exo-skeletal rods. Said rods have a patented “power lift” technology which stores energy when you bend down, then releases the energy when you stand up. As such, it is designed to give you a “boost” when you need to get up, adding to your mobility, your stability, and your confidence.
The unit fits sizes between 15 and 24 inches. Assuming it does not fit your knee, you can theoretically send it back.
This particular brace is made out of neoprene and is open in the back part so that you get cool comfort behind your knee. People who are sensitive to fibers that contain rubber content or particular fabrics might benefit the most from this design.
Customer seem quite satisfied, particularly people who have lost mobility as a result of serving in the military, age, or sports injuries.
The company has what they call "real people, real results" as the list of testimonials but at the bottom they say that these results are not typical and that your individual results may vary. Standard boilerplate aside, this does indicate that people who get back a great deal of mobility and enjoy lots of support are not typical.
This brace works perfectly fine as a brace. The level of compression is obviously not adjustable. Reason being it does simply slide over your body unlike other compression braces which you can adjust based on your size. As such it is not recommended as a medical aid particularly if you are trying to stop inflammation from an injury. Beyond that the real reason you would wear it is not because you are injured or recovering. Rather because you don't have a great deal of mobility and you want a little extra boost each time you get up or sit down. As far as that is concerned, the rods do not really store a lot of energy. It works to a limited degree but it certainly won't help to replace things like improve muscle strength or joint strength, or simply studying yourself on a piece of nearby furniture.
Most knee braces that have rods built into them are designed for a very specific type of physical therapy and rehabilitation. They are meant to provide extra support to joint strains and cushion your body for all day comfort. Many neoprene designs have hinged knee support with straps that wrap around your need to offer more adjustable fits. Other braces on the market have open mesh designs on the front so that the knee can move around freely but are open in the back. Some have stable, patella stabilizing rods on either side. There are braces designed for ACL injuries and for arthritis in the knee. You will also find post-surgical braces to fit around the knee in addition to protective braces for activities like skiing. All of these are significantly more stable and medical grade.
Other things that you can do to help improve your knee pain include the rice method. The rice method stands for rest, ice, compression, and elevation. With this particular knee brace you are getting a slight bit of compression, something which helps to fulfill one aspect of this treatment. Of course it is recommended that you utilize other treatment methods in conjunction with this particular brace.
It is most comfortable to be worn under clothing or over clothing. Many people claim that the highest level of comfort is obtained when you wear it on top of a layer of clothing because this helps to protect against chafing along your skin.
After you have used it and you are in need of cleaning, simply remove the power lift technology rods which are located on the underside of the garment. You will find these inside of the building compartments. Once you have removed them, wash and dry the brace itself on a delicate or low setting. As you dry it, note that the size and structure should not change. Once it is drive you can replace the rods inside of the compartments and start wearing it again.
If you have recently received surgery or a serious injury for which you must wear a brace at night, this is not a suitable brace to wear. The exoskeleton rods will provide a bit of discomfort if you wear the brace all night. However, it is a great brace to wear during the day when you are more active and recovering.
This brace is not a medical device nor is it intended to replace any medical care, medical treatment, or regular supervision by your doctor. Instead it is a mobility aid which is designed to help you support your knee and give you a special boost when you go from bending down to straightening up.
McDavid knee support is a reinforced spring steel brace with cross straps for adjustable fits. It is meant to give you enhanced compression with rotational and collateral ligament support. There is a padded buttress which is open in front of the need to give your Patella 360° of support. Made of neoprene, it is a thermal compression which helps to wick moisture and swept underneath so you can wear it all day comfortably. This design is available in three different levels of protection to cover a range of injuries.
The first level of protection is meant for general-purpose use, designed for minor sprains, minor pain, instability, or relief from tendinitis or arthritis. Protection level two is more advanced and gives you support and protection for minor or moderate injuries such as ligament instability. Maximum level protection, level three is meant for moderate to major instabilities and pain.
