Potty Patch is a mat for dogs to go to the bathroom on that's covered in fake grass that looks and feels real. Dogs will be attracted to the grass and head to the mat when it's time for them to go, instead of doing their business on the floor or a piece of furniture. If you live in a colder area and / or a high-rise apartment building, you won't need to worry about taking the dog outside every time they have to pee.

Total Cost Breakdown

The cost of Potty Patch is $39.99 plus $12.95 shipping, for a total price of $52.94.

How It Works

As your dog goes to the bathroom on the elevated green turf, the turf will soak up the liquid, and then it will drain into the base of the mat, leaving the turf dry. Any unpleasant odor will also be soaked up by the mat's base, so the turf won't smell like urine, nor will you smell urine throughout the rest of the house or apartment. At the end of the day, all you'll need to do is empty the mat into your chosen place of waste disposal ( such as your toilet ) to prepare it for the next day.

  • Two Different Sizes

This mat comes in two different sizes, including the regular size, suitable for dogs under 15 pounds, and the large size, suitable for dogs who weigh 15 pounds or more. The regular mat measures 17 by 27 inches and the large one is 27 by 34 inches in size.

  • Holds Full Quart of Liquid

Each Potty Patch will hold a full quart of liquid, so even if your dog goes to the bathroom a lot, you likely won't need to empty their mat more than once a day. Fortunately, regardless of how much liquid is being held within the base of the mat, the turf on top will remain dry to the touch.

  • Anti-microbial

Along with being odor-resistant, this mat is also anti-microbial, which means it'll fight against the accumulation of bacteria. Therefore, your dog will be unlikely to pick up any sort of bacterial infection from it, even if it hasn't been emptied for hours.

  • Suitable for Outdoor Use

This mat has been designed for use indoors, but it can also be used outdoors on your patio or deck. If you place one there, your dog will be able to have the fun of going outside to pee on a nice day, but you won't have to walk them far from your home.

Positive Points

  • Good for Puppy Training

The Potty Patch will help with training a new puppy, since by using it, your dog will learn to head to a specific place to go to the bathroom. This mat's pretend grass may be so attractive to the dog that they may head right for it on their own, without a formal introduction, as soon as you place it on your floor.

  • Leave Dogs Alone Without Worry

After your dog has learned to use this mat, you'll be able to leave them alone during the day without worrying that they'll have an accident on the floor or your furniture. You won't even need to think about putting them in a crate while you're at work, unless they frequently cause other damage to the house or apartment.

  • Ideal for Older Dogs

The Potty Patch is ideal for older dogs who may not have the energy to go for a walk outside each time they have to pee, especially if that walk involves stairs and / or an elevator. Elderly dog owners who would like to avoid this kind of walk several times per day will also find it convenient.

Negative Points

  • Won't Effectively Hold Poop

This mat is great when your dog has to pee, but it will not soak up poop in the same way, so you'll need to take your dog outside if they have to do that. If your dog happens to drop a solid or semi-solid poop on the mat, the poop may get caught in the turf, making it look dirty and smell.

  • May Also Attract Cats

If you have cats, they may decide to use the Potty Patch too, which could be a problem if you got it specifically for your dog( s ) and would prefer the cats to use their litter.

  • Puppy Pee Pads

There are other types of puppy pee pads available, but these often aren't big enough for larger dogs, and most won't hold as much liquid at once as the Potty Patch. Plus, a lot of these aren't covered in any sort of turf, so your dog may not be as interested in using them.

  • Dog Walker

You could hire someone to take your dog out to walk and do their business if you're unavailable during the day, but finding a dog walker who's both reliable and affordable could be difficult.

Save Money

If you have your dog use the Potty Patch on a daily basis, you'll no longer need to replace carpet, hardwood flooring, and furniture that has been damaged by dog urine on a regular basis.

Save Time

By using the Potty Patch, you'll also reduce the amount of time you spend cleaning up doggie messes, plus the amount of time you spend walking the dog outside to go to the bathroom.
