Before you can use your Posture Cane, you'll have to adjust it to the right height. There are 12 different heights to choose from, so most adults will be able to find a height that suits them perfectly. In order to select a height, slide the long vertical pole of the cane up and down to shift between the 12 different settings. When you've picked the correct setting, the handle of your cane will be resting at about the same level as your waist.
Next, hang onto your cane's handle with one hand. You'll notice that while most walking canes have a handle shaped like an upside-down "J, " this one has a special Campbell handle that's shaped more like a zigzag. This is what will enable the cane to support your weight and allow you to walk more upright than you'd be able to with most other canes.
After you're hanging onto your handle, you'll be able to walk comfortably in virtually any location, even over rough outdoor terrain or up and down stairs. Plus, since your upright posture will keep your eyes in contact with the world around you, there's little chance that you'll slip and fall.
Each Posture Cane is black, a shade that doesn't suit one gender over another or one age group over another. As a result, almost anyone who needs a walking cane will be quite happy to use it.
While this cane is strong and sturdy enough to support the weight of a person's body while they're standing erect, it's also lightweight and thin. When you use it, you won't feel as if you're dragging around some piece of bulky material, and each one will fit in virtually any vehicle if you need to transport it somewhere far away.
The Campbell handles that are attached to these canes, and which are shaped differently from standard cane handles, will take pressure off a user's shoulder and wrist as they grip their cane. This will make using this cane more pleasant for anyone, but will especially increase the comfort level for users who have shoulder or wrist problems along with problems with their legs.
Every Posture Cane has a 360-degree traction tip on its bottom that will rotate in a full circle, increasing the range of motion available to you. If you want to sit down but keep your cane near you, you'll also be able to balance it securely on this base. If you decide to upgrade to the deluxe version of this cane, you'll get a rocker tip made of rubber on the bottom instead, which will enable you to walk more quickly.
Aside from helping you walk, one of these canes will also help you get up from a chair or some other seat. All you'll need to do is balance your cane on its tip, hang onto the handle and put a bit of pressure on the cane to help yourself stand. Even if you have fairly serious mobility issues, you'll be able to remain more independent by doing this instead of asking others to help you get into a standing position.
Since this cane has 12 height settings, and it's suitable for any adult with the ability to walk to use, you can share yours with others if you choose. If you and your partner both have mobility issues, but don't need to walk with a cane at the same time, you may want to pass one back and forth. It takes only seconds to adjust the height each time, so if you're a different height than your partner, this won't be a big inconvenience.
You'll be able to walk nearly anywhere with this cane—both indoors and out—so having a temporary or permanent physical disability won't mean that you'll be confined to your home. If you enjoy hiking up and down hills and gravel paths or wandering the streets of an urban area, you'll still be able to do that without a problem. You'll also be able to complete simple yard chores such as watering and weeding while holding your cane in one hand or placing it beside you.
People who have lower body injuries and need to walk with a cane for a while probably won't be happy with one that'll require them to stoop over. Fortunately, with the Posture Cane, you'll be able to remain almost as active as ever while you get over your injury. Considering all the walking you'll be able to do with it, you'll likely still be in good shape when you return to your regular athletic or occupational activities.
A child might need to use a cane due to an injury or disability, and they'd probably be satisfied with this one, as it would enable them to stand up straight and see everything. Unfortunately, however, this cane might not be suitable for all children. The 12 height settings available are meant to suit adults, not kids, and shorter children may be too short for even the lowest setting. If a child were to attempt to use a cane that was too tall, they might end up falling and making their physical problems worse.
Some canes will fold up to an incredibly small size, which means that they take up less space in a vehicle than they would otherwise. The Posture Cane can be shortened, but once you've got it on the shortest setting, you won't be able to make it any smaller than that. Consequently, no matter what you do, the cane will take up about two feet of horizontal or vertical space.
This cane can be used in a lot of different locations, but it isn't meant to be used in water. If you happen to wade into the water with it, it'll get slippery and won't support you as effectively as it normally does, so you could fall. This guidance applies in small, wet areas like showers, too, as it does in larger wet areas such as rivers.
