How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Drop Tablet Down Drain

To use one of the yellow Plink tablets for your garbage disposal, simply drop it straight down the drain and turn on your garbage disposal as you normally would. If you're using one of the blue tablets to clean and deodorize another drain, set it on top of that drain where it will begin to fizz away. If it doesn't begin to fizz immediately, turn on your tap to add some water to the mix.

  2. Wait a Few Minutes

Regardless of which type of tablet you've used, you'll need to wait a few minutes for it to complete its work. You won't see what a yellow tablet is doing, as it'll sink deep within your garbage disposal, but you'll notice a change in the odor in the air. On the other hand, you can watch one of the blue tablets become fizzy, disintegrate and then sink down the drain you're using it on in powder form. Once it's down there, it'll deodorize the drain and break up any dirt and debris inside in order to help prevent clogging.

  3. Turn On Tap Again (Optional)

If you've used a blue tablet to clean a drain that's not connected to a garbage disposal, you may want to run the corresponding tap again to see if the drain's clear. However, you won't have to remove a blue tablet or a yellow tablet from a drain or garbage disposal—it's safe to leave either of them in there.

  • Small

The yellow Plink tablets are about the size of a marble, and the blue ones aren't much bigger. That means you won't need to worry about one getting stuck in your drain and clogging it before it does its job. Plus, as mentioned, the blue tablets will disintegrate into smaller pieces.

  • Three Month Supply

In each set of Plink tablets, you'll get a total of 46 tablets (40 yellow and six blue). This will be enough to last you for three months, and a set may last you even longer if you don't clean out your drains more than once a day.

  • Lemon Scent

The lemon scent left behind by the yellow tablets is one that many users will find pleasant, and there's no scent associated with the blue tablets. After you use a yellow tablet, you should be able to smell a fresh lemon scent throughout the entire room your garbage disposal is in.

  • Safe For All Plumbing Systems

These deodorizing tablets don't contain toxic ingredients that will damage any plumbing systems, so it'll be safe to use them within yours, no matter what type you have. You'll also be able to take these tablets and use them safely anywhere else, too, even if the plumbing system at the new location is different from yours at home.

Positive Points

  • Limited Physical Work

As many of us know, cleaning tasks often involve a lot of scrubbing and wiping, but cleaning a garbage disposal or drain with a Plink tablet will require little action from you. You'll just need to drop one in the stinky area you want to treat, turn on a tap or switch, and sit back and let it do the work. As a result, you'll be able to save your energy for cleaning tasks or other activities that are more complicated.

  • Clean Entire Drain/Disposal

These tablets won't just clean and deodorize the tops of your drains or garbage disposal. Instead, they'll sink all the way down your piping and get rid of anything that might clog your drains, along with offensive smells throughout the entire depth of any drain or disposal. Consequently, after you start using the blue tablets to clean all the drains in your home, you may not need to call a plumber as often, if at all.

  • Older Children Can Use

If you want an older child to start doing more household chores, cleaning a drain or disposal with a Plink tablet is probably a good chore to give them. The process of adding one to a drain or disposal isn't very complex, and touching one of these tablets will never put a child in danger. Children younger than about eight years old should still be kept away from the tablets, though, in case one of these children were to decide to ingest one.

Negative Points

  • No Alternative Scent

While many people enjoy a lemon scent, it would be nice if alternatively scented tablets, such as ones that smell like flowers, could be available for people who don't. Unfortunately, lemon-scented yellow tablets are currently the only option when it comes to Plink tablets for your garbage disposal.

  • Tablets Could Get Lost

These tablets are so small, especially the yellow ones, that a user could drop one and it could end up getting lost in the kitchen, bathroom or wherever. Not only would this waste a tablet that you could've used, but you'd also have to make sure no pet or small child could get their hands or paws on the tablet and ingest it.

Save Money

If you don't use Plink tablets to clean your garbage disposal or drains, you might end up pouring chemicals down them instead. These chemicals could be toxic, and they might not work as effectively as one little Plink tablet, either. If toxic chemicals were to damage your plumbing system, which is something that these tablets can't do, replacing the system could end up draining your savings account.

  • Don't Use More Than One

After you start using these tablets, make sure you only use one at once and that you don't use more than two per day. If you stick to the recommended number of tablets, they won't cause damage to your plumbing system or drains, but over-using them could result in some damage. What's more, you'll just be wasting them, since two tablets at once won't do a cleaning job that's any better than one on its own could do.

  • Use In Appropriate Drains

You must also make sure you use the tablets in the appropriate drains. More specifically, you must use the yellow tablets for your garbage disposal and the blue ones for all your other drains. If you were to put a blue one down a garbage disposal and a yellow one down your bathroom sink, they may not clean and deodorize these locations effectively.
