Total Cost Breakdown

The cost of Play Brites is $19.99 plus $8.99 shipping, for a total price of $28.98.

Price is from As Seen on TV Commercial page:

  • Carrying Handle

There is a carrying handle so the kids can go to things like sleepovers with it.

  • Store Pieces in Doll

You can store all of the different pieces for the face in the body inside of the body itself just the same as the Mr. Potato head dolls.

  • Automatic Shut Off

There's an automatic shut off you don't have to worry about the lights staying on all night.

  • Good for Development

Toys should allow children to use their imagination. Stuffed animals that make lights or talk or even sing based upon the pressing of certain buttons do take charge of playtime because they are specific and they direct children to one action. Such specificity denies children the ability to use their imagination. Simple toys allow children to be creative and spontaneous which is precisely why these toys only have the button for lighting up but otherwise allow kids to play however they want.

  • Lights Are Educational

Play Brites are toys that make the best use of lights and development. Studies indicate that toys which boast lights are beneficial for developing children.

  • Different Lights and Shapes

You can choose from a bunny, kitty, dog, dinosaur, shark, or unicorn six of which come in different colors. These are fun for any time, with different choices and different lights that change colors and light up the interior.

  • Good for Night Lights

When the dolls arrive they are similar to the Mr. Potato head structures wherein children have all the different parts like the arms, face, ears, and feet but they have to create it themselves. Children can use this as a great nightlight by simply taking off the top part of the body and allowing the lights to shine out. This makes it a dull but successful light for a night light or when children are reading or when they simply want starry light shows in their home.

  • Mix and Match

As children collect more they can mix-and-match all of the different pieces and create new characters.

  • Not Under 2 Years of Age

Electronics or toys with lots of bright lights and constant changes don't require children to pay attention to any single thing for a long time. As such children to use these toys regularly might find it difficult to focus on something that's nonmoving or something like a book. Children who are under the age of two shouldn't be playing with toys have bright lights changing movements or other quick changes to their structure. However children over the age of two should do just fine with this particular toy.

Boosting brain development, teaching children about different patterns, the lights that light up each of these toys allow children the opportunity to point out the different patterns built onto the exterior of the toy. This helps them to be more creative thinkers.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Don't Overwhelm

When you give your children these toys make sure that you don't overwhelm them with too many toys at once. If you do give your child this particular toy don't give it other toys at the same time.

Doing so makes it hard for children to focus on any one thing. Rotate one toy in and out of your children's room every few weeks so that they can explore this toy thoroughly before they move on to something else. Rushing to replace old toys with new ones can be detrimental to developmental stages so there's no need to push new things once the child has started to explore this one.

Things like creativity, spatial relationships, language, construction principles, building, planning, and creativity will all be enhanced when the child gets a chance to play with any of these characters individually.

  2. Great for Autism

For children who have autism, toys that have such lights encourage positive behaviors and help to keep children engaged. Light up effects from toys like this one are a wonderful way to provide an immediate reward for positive behavior in children who have autism. If your child has autism you can reward positive behavior by turning on the light, eliciting a positive reaction when the toy lights up. It can be turned off when positive behaviors are not demonstrated.

Relationships between autism and positive reinforcement are scientifically supported. These state that presenting tasks or lessons which are broken down into smaller steps, allows the child the chance to experience small successes while working toward a bigger goal. Turning on the fun laser lights included in these toys is a great way to show children how their actions can turn into reward.

Trash !

I purchased this for my granddaughter and it did not work properly, I had to remove and reinsert the batteries every single time I wanted to turn it on for her, still then it would not change colors, customer service was no help at all! Save your money, do not purchase this item!

I just got one for my niece and the lights don't stay on and it doesn't project on the walls. I'm really disappointed. It was a waste of money.

TO project, you remove the top of it and it should show. It has two modes. Light inside, and projection mode.
