Plant Pods are compact, attractive tools that will water virtually any plant for you at any time. Each pod consists of a round, transparent and shatter-proof water reservoir with a base that can be added to the soil of any plant. You'll be able to use these pods both indoors and outdoors and adjust the water flow to suit each big or small plant that needs to be watered. The Plant Pods come in sets of three, and each reservoir in a set is a different color.
The cost of Plant Pods is $14.99 plus $4.99 shipping, for a total price of $19.98. This price was obtained from the As Seen on TV commercial page found at getplantpods.com; however, the company has since ceased selling Plant Pods and has taken down the website. Plant Pods may still be found for sale on Amazon or Ebay.
Before one of these pods can water a plant, you'll need to fill its compact, globe-shaped reservoir with water from a sink or some other source. You'll be able to quickly tell when your reservoir is full, due to the fact that each reservoir is transparent. At this point, you can also add any type of plant food you normally use to the reservoir along with the water.
Once your reservoir is full of water ( and food, if desired ), attach it to your pod's base, which will later be used to regulate how much water the plant it's placed beside will receive. Make sure that the spokes on one end of the base are pointing away from the reservoir. If they're not, you've got the base upside down.
After you've securely attached your reservoir to your base, the next thing you'll need to do is insert the base's three spokes into the soil beside your chosen plant. Place it as close to the plant as possible without allowing the base's spokes to touch the plant's roots.
The last thing you'll have to do is turn the small dial on your pod's base either up or down to adjust the amount of water your plant will receive. Don't worry if you're not sure, as you'll be able to change this setting any day, at any time just by moving the dial again. Keep in mind that generally, larger plants need more water while smaller ones need less.
Once you've adjusted your pod's dial to select a certain level of water flow, the base of your pod will make use of gravity and air to pull water downward from the attached reservoir. The water will travel into the soil and down into the plants roots, keeping it healthy even when you're not around.
In each set of Plant Pods, you'll get three pods, including one in green, one in blue and one in a reddish shade. All these will be equally transparent and they'll all have a black base.
You can use these pods to water plants of any type, regardless of whether they're indoors or outdoors or what type of container they're in. They'll work just as effectively in window boxes or hanging planters as they will in standard flower pots.
Each reservoir holds 20 ounces of water, which will last you one day on a low flow setting and 12 hours on a medium flow setting if you keep a particular pod going all day.
All reservoirs are also shatterproof, so it almost goes without saying that none of them will break easily if you accidentally drop them on the floor or ground. However, this doesn't mean that you should ever toss one around like a ball.
Once you set one of these pods up and adjust the dial, it'll run completely on air and gravity, so no batteries or electricity will ever be required. That means when you're looking for someplace to put a new plant, you won't be limited by the locations of your electrical outlets.
The colors of green, blue and red that the Plant Pods come in will look pretty alongside almost any plant. If someone sees one, they may not even realize it's a watering device and not just a decoration!
These globelike devices are ideal for people who want to have beautiful plants in their home but are too busy with jobs, school, children and the like to remember to water them each day.
Besides the standard set of Plant Pods, a set with designer reservoirs is also available. These reservoirs come in the same size, shape and colors as the standard ones, but look even more vibrant and shimmery than those.
If you're planning on keeping your Plant Pods going while you're on vacation for a few days, you may need to add at least three pods to each plant. Since one pod will empty within 12 to 24 hours if flowing continuously, one won't be enough to last you for the duration of a few days away. Unfortunately, having to set up three or more pods beside one plant may dramatically crowd whatever container that plant's in.
A lot of people like to water their own plants daily, but this could be an inconvenient, forgettable chore if you're strapped for time and your plants are in hard-to reach places, like hanging baskets.
You could also enlist the services of someone else if you're too busy to water your own plants, but Plant Pods may be more reliable than any human. After all, each will never leave a plant's side unless you move it yourself.
