Over Hear is a digital device that will enable you to hear sounds much louder than normal. It's about the size of a smartphone and comes with noise-canceling earbuds, so while you're wearing it, you'll just appear as if you're listening to music. It amplifies sound while also minimizing background noise, so while you have this device on, you'll likely be able to hear a whisper across a crowded room. Each device comes in black and will attach to a belt.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Power up Device

To start using this sound-amplifying tool, you'll need to power it up. It will require some batteries to run, so you'll have to consult your instruction manual in order to obtain the appropriate ones. Once you turn the device on, you'll be able to use it to hear the sounds of your environment better, or switch modes in order to use the built-in FM radio.

  2. Plug in Ear Buds

After you've inserted the appropriate batteries and turned your device on, you'll need to plug the noise-canceling earbuds into the round hole at the top of the device and insert them in your ears.

  3. Attach to Belt or Carry

Once your earbuds are plugged in, you'll be able to use the device wherever you choose, and you can either hold onto it as you walk or sit, or attach it to your belt. It'll work just as effectively outdoors as it does indoors.

Features

  • Black

Each Over Hear comes in basic black, making it look like an ordinary portable radio that you might listen to with headphones. Therefore, when you have yours on, it's unlikely that anyone will guess you have hearing problems or are trying to enhance your hearing for some other reason.

  • Compact

This device is so small that it'll likely fit into your pants pocket when you're not using it, and unless your backpack or handbag is overstuffed with other items, will fit comfortably in there. Each one likely weighs less than a pound, so you won't tire yourself out by carrying yours around for up to several hours, either. Even the earbuds that come with each Over Hear have small buds as opposed to large muffs, so when folded, they'll take up only about an inch of space.

  • Contains Radio

An FM Radio is built into each Over Hear device, so when you're not using it in order to hear something better, you'll be able to use it to hear your favorite music. You'll be able to switch between modes quickly, so if something you want to hear more clearly does come along, you won't be stuck in radio mode for more than a few seconds. The device will continue to minimize background noise while you're using the radio, too.

  • Covers 100 Feet

With this tool, you'll not only be able to clearly hear sounds from a few feet away—you'll actually be able to hear enhanced versions of sounds coming from up to 100 feet away from you. That's almost the length of an entire football field.

Positive Points

  • Helps With Hearing Issues

If you have temporary or permanent hearing problems, you may want to use one of these devices instead of a hearing aid or two. You'll probably be able to start and stop using your Over Hear more quickly than you'd be able to insert and take out a hearing aid. You also won't need to stick any part of this device very far into either of your ears.

  • Good for Tv, Movies

When you're watching a television program at home and you want to hear it loudly, but someone else in the room doesn't, you'll be able to turn on this device and satisfy everyone's needs. This tool will also come in handy if you struggle to hear the characters in a movie speak while you're watching it in a crowded and perhaps noisy theater.

  • Could be Handy at Work

Besides helping you out during your leisure time, your Over Hear may also help you out at the office or wherever you work. If you're having a one-on-one talk with one or two coworkers, but are becoming distracted by other coworkers, clients or customers making noise around you, all you'll need to do is turn this device on. Then, you'll be able to clearly hear every word that the people you're talking to are saying. (In this case, you may have to admit what kind of device it is, so people know you're not tuning them out with music.).

  • May Help You Eavesdrop

While eavesdropping on a private conversation usually isn't a great idea, if you're faced with a situation in which you feel you need to, the Over Hear will definitely help you do that. You'll likely be able to hear every word of a private conversation and find out things you wouldn't otherwise know. Just be sure you don't do anything malicious with the information you collect!

Negative Points

  • Batteries Required

Since this tool doesn't operate on electricity, nor is it solar-powered, you'll need batteries to run it, but nowhere is it stated that they're included with each one. That means you'll need to obtain your first set, along with any replacement sets in the future, on your own. If batteries annoy you, you'll need to use them anyway, as there's no option of plugging this tool into a wall outlet or computer in order to charge it.

  • Could Miss Important Sounds

Cancelling out noise with the noise-canceling headphones that come with this device can be advantageous, but it can also be a disadvantage in some situations. You may miss important sounds in your environment, such as the growl of a wild animal or a police car's siren, or something significant another person's trying to say to you.

Save Time

By using Over Hear, you'll ensure that you hear everything correctly the first time, so you'll no longer have to ask people to repeat things over and over again to you. You also won't need to circle back to an earlier time when watching a movie or listening to an audio recording, in order to replay what you didn't hear clearly.

Save Money

If you only have occasional hearing difficulties that aren't severe, obtaining one of these devices instead of visiting a doctor to have hearing aids prescribed might be a better option. Not going to the doctor's appointment will be much easier on your pocketbook, as will using an uncomplicated digital device as opposed to valuable hearing aids that you'll also need to be super-careful with. You'll simply be able to plop the earbuds from your Over Hear in your ears when you need them and keep them out when you don't.
