Although this product comes already inflated, it is easy to deflate and inflate at the user's discretion. This makes it perfect for taking out and about as it doesn't take up much space in a bag and requires very little effort to reinflate at the other end. It can also add to the fun for a child to learn about blowing things up and what happens when you leave the whole open.
Inside Oodlebrites are coloured lights that change colour when the toy touches anything. This could be something that it has rolled into, being thrown and caught or even just being tapped by a finger or hand. This is very interactive and makes teaching children to throw and catch a little more entertaining. It improves the number of games that kids come up with as they will be able to come up with obstacle courses to kick the toy through. The changing colours mean it'll be easier to keep track of how many kicks each person does.
The lights located within the product also act as an excellent night light, especially as the child can turn it on of their own accord. If the child is scared or upset they simply need to tap the Oodlebrite and it will give a soft glow, helping them to understand there is nothing to fear.
Oodlebrites are first and foremost a soft toy and that is where the furry layer really comes into its own. The product is soft and cuddly and provides comfort to a child as you would expect from a plush toy.
If the toy isn't played with for a few minutes then the lights automatically shut off. Parents don't need to worry about the batteries draining in the night because once the child is asleep the Oodlebrite will also switch off.
The lights used within Oodlebrites are LED and last for a very long time. They last a long time and also don't get hot so there's no need to worry about it being in use for extended periods.
Due to it being easy to deflate and reinflate it makes it an excellent toy to take on trips. Whether it's a holiday away or just a day out with family, it is easy to pack up and know that it won't take up too much space in the bag.
Using LED lights is an excellent safety feature and allows the lights to stay on for prolonged periods without heating up. This makes it a lot safer in terms of ensuring the toy won't overheat and melt or set on fire. LED lights are also long lasting which means there won't be any need to replace the bulbs or the entire toy quickly.
Oodlebrites are incredibly sturdy and this means it is possible to play with them outside or indoors. While the fur might get a little dirty from playing outside it is will stand up to being thrown and kicked about a park without having to worry about tears.
It makes for an excellent indoor ball, too as it is softer than the standard ball. This reduces the risk of breakages to ornaments and glasses that many people have in their homes.
The lights within the toy automatically turn off after a few minutes which saves a lot of money and energy in terms of batteries. LED lights aren't the most draining, it is better to keep the toy turned off when not in use and the automatic shut off ensures parents don't need to worry about it being left on.
With 7 different colours of lights, Oodlebrites switch through them each time the toy is tapped. Whether it's being caught, bumping into something or someone tapping it purposefully it will change on to the next colour. This makes for a very interactive toy that gets children more eager to learn about throwing and catching.
Although Oodlebrites are essentially a soft toy they aren't as cuddly as they could be. Due to them being inflated into a ball shape they aren't easy for children to cuddle and aren't enjoyable to cuddle either. As the lights are located inside the fur has to be thin enough that the light can shine through.
The fur on the toy itself seems to attract dust very easily. This is particularly true if it is being rolled along the ground or thrown around rooms that aren't as regularly used.
For what it does it is a fairly expensive product. Although it is a toy, nightlight and teddy rolled into one, it isn't perfect at any of these things and it is possible to get much better products for the same price.
Oodlebrites appear to be trying to do a lot rolled into one product. As so much emphasis is placed on the nightlight feature the softness of the product has taken a hit. The fur has to be thin enough that the light can shine through warming the room easily and while this effect has been achieved it makes Oodlebrights less of a plush toy.
If your Oodlebright doesn't come fully inflated then this needs to be done first. Under the flap at the back, there is a space to blow the product up. Make sure the product is fully inflated before playing with it.
Once fully inflated play with the Oodlebright as you see fit. Throw and catch, football, rolling or just cuddling.
At the end of the day, you can place the product in or next to the child's bed so they can easily reach it to turn it on.
Although it isn't necessary to turn the Oodlebrite off or deflate it, if you are taking it away it can be handy to deflate it before packing. Using the same hole as you used to blow it up you can deflate the product and reinflate it at the other end.
The LED lights are long-lasting and this means there is less need to replace the bulbs or product for a very long time.
The automatic switch off also ensures that the batteries won't be drained when the Oodlebrite isn't in use. It is possible to use it for a long time without the batteries needing to be replaced as a result of this.
