Light Speed Racers

Rate this product

Light Speed Racers are rechargeable, light-up race cars that each come with a remote control and their own track to cruise along. Each track contains 200 puzzle-like pieces in four different colors that can be quickly connected, and depending on how you build, your track may extend up to 10 feet in length. As your car cruises down the track, it'll emit light as it goes, and you'll be able to change its speed and direction by using the remote control.

Total Cost Breakdown

The cost of Light Speed Racers is $19.99 plus $5.99 shipping. The special TV offer allows you to receive a second Light Speed Racers at the discounted price of only $5.99 for a total price of $31.97. This price was obtained from the As Seen on TV commercial page found at lightspeedracers.com; however, the company has since ceased selling Light Speed Racers and has taken down the website. Light Speed Racers may still be found for sale on Amazon or Ebay.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Build Track

Before you start using your rechargeable race car, you'll need to build a track for it by using the 200 connectable plastic pieces included with it. With these pieces, you'll be able to build a straight track, a curved track, a completely circular track or even a loop-the-loop for your cars to travel over. You can build your track over furniture or other objects in order to create hills, and create as many lanes as you'd like. Keep in mind that you'll also be able to change your track on the fly as your car moves.

  2. Startup Car

Once you have a track completed, it'll be time to start up your car with your remote control. After you place your car on the track and get it going, you'll be able to use the remote control to change its speed or make it go backward instead of forwards—it's up to you. Regardless, it'll give off light as it moves, making your race track appear as if it's lighting up.

  3. Move Track Pieces (optional)

As your car travels, you'll be able to quickly pull individual plastic pieces from your track and connect them elsewhere on the track, but this isn't necessary. It's just an option for some extra fun.

  4. Turn Off Car and Clean up

When you're done playing with your car and track, for the time being, turn off the car by using the remote control and store it somewhere safe, such as inside the included travel bag. You'll have the choice of either dismantling your track or keeping it as is until you use it again. If you decide to dismantle it, all the pieces will fit comfortably in the travel bag, too.

Features

  • Choice Between Cars

There are four different Light Speed Racers available: a red one, a black one, a silver and a blue. One car will come with each set of track pieces, and you'll be able to choose the shade you like best. If you want all four cars, you'll need to obtain four separate sets, which will give you a whopping 800 plastic track pieces in total.

  • Multicolored Track Pieces

The track pieces you'll receive with each car come in yellow, green, blue and red, so the track will look more interesting than it would if all the pieces were the same color.

  • Long Track

When the connected end to end in a straight line, your track made up of 200 pieces will measure 10 feet in length. Of course, if you decide to include curves, circles, and hills, adding these features will make it look a bit shorter.

  • Travel Bag, Decals Included

Aside from your track pieces and rechargeable race car, you'll also get a travel bag and decals within each Light Speed Racers set. The bag will hold your car and all the track pieces so you can carry everything around, and you can stick the decals on your car in order to give it a unique, jazzy look.

Positive Points

  • Cars Move Quickly

While you can choose how fast you want your individual car to move, Light Speed Racers will travel at a rate of up to 240 miles per hour, which can be very exciting to watch.

  • Fast Building Process

Similar to the cars, the track-building process will be a quick one for most users, as most people will be able to snap the plastic pieces together in seconds. If you give a child one of these sets as a gift at a birthday party, you may be able to set up an entire track for the guests to try out in five minutes. Plus, when you need to dismantle your track, you'll be able to take it down just as quickly as you put it up.

  • For Boys and Girls

School-aged boys and girls will be able to have fun with these cars and tracks since when it comes to cars or pieces, there are color options available that tend to appeal to both genders. Friends or siblings who both have rechargeable cars may even decide to race them in order to see whose car is faster.

Negative Points

  • Maybe Less Fun in Daytime

Using Light Speed Racers may be less fun during the day than at night since the light that these race cars emit won't show up as strongly as it does in the dark. Furthermore, if you want to see the light at its full brightness at night, you'll need to turn off most of the lights in the room your track's in.

  • No Sound Effects

Neither the race cars nor the track that comes with them will make any sound effects, so if you want sound effects as you play, you'll need to create them on your own.

  • Recharging Could be Hard

The process for recharging Light Speed Racers isn't explained, so it could end up being time-consuming or difficult. Many toys and other household objects recharge via USB cable these days, so you may need a computer or tablet to plug your car into in order to recharge it.

Warnings

  • Be Careful in Bare Feet

If you decide to leave a race track that you've built out for hours or days at a time, be careful walking around the room it's in with bare feet, especially at night. Due to their shape, stepping on one of the connectable track pieces could be uncomfortable and might even cause you pain.

  • Don't Play Near Pets, Babies

Light Speed Racers aren't a suitable toy for babies, and you should be sure that you don't play with your set near them or near household pets. If a car were to get going too fast and fly off your track, it could hurt a pet or baby if they happened to be nearby. Along the same lines, while the track pieces aren't small enough for a baby or toddler to swallow, it's best for the pieces and the child that they don't chew on them.

Critical Advice

It might be fun to have your race car move at the maximum speed at all times, but this isn't always the best choice. If you're just starting out with Light Speed Racers, it may be beneficial to slow your car down as it goes around curves, so it stays securely on your track instead of falling off.

I Regret Buying it!

Scam. Scam Scam.

Orders 3/5/18 after seeing commercial and my son wanted it bad. Keep saying we won’t charge card till it ships. Well they stole my husbands credit card info maxed it out. So check your credit cards or debits immediately. You won’t get this track. When they supposedly were gonna send it to me they couldnt verify my email address canceled order and then restarted another order after I yelled at them cause I’ve called every week for over a month and my address was accurate. Now I’m on 3-6 week waiting again cause back ordered and website is down and you can’t find customer service number. It’s bull. It’s scam.

I Regret Buying it!

Never Received

I ordered my sets in February. It is April 30th and I still have not received them. I called and they gave me the run around. First they said they couldn't find my order. Then, it was on back order. Then. I had the wrong number. I called the number on the website and on my cc statement. I'm very disappointed.

I have something to say!

DON'T MAKE ME REGRET BUYING IT

Not happy. I ordered 1 race track with getting one for free with paying a extra 10.00 dollars for bridges. I have not received my order yet. I place the order almost a month and a half ago. Please let me know something. I don't like giving away my money.

I Regret Buying it!

Not Happy

I ordered 2 race tracks on Feb. 282018 and have yet to receive it in the mail. I spent approximately $70.00 and I expect a race track or would love a refund back. Or a refund and still a track. It has been almost a month later and nothing on the mail. Please can someone contact me about this situation.
