Kinetic Sand Beach sand for children feels like authentic wet beach sand but is actually fairly dry. However, it'll never become so dry that it's unusable, regardless of the container in which you choose to store it. This play sand contains natural sand, but unlike natural sand, you'll be able to mold it, squish it or squeeze it into virtually any shape you desire. Once it's been molded, it'll stay put more effectively than regular sand you'd find on a beach.
The cost of Kinetic Sand Beach is $18.99 plus $5.99 shipping, for a total price of $24.98.

When you mold regular sand, you probably find that it just slips through your fingers and doesn't stay put, even if you add a bit of water to it. If you use Kinetic Sand Beach sand, though, you'll discover that it sticks together almost like glue, so the castles or whatever else you make with it won't crumble. Its stickiness is due to special ingredients that are mixed with natural sand in order to give that sand a slightly different texture than normal. The non-crumbling nature of this sand will also enable you to clean it up quickly, as you'll be able to pick up big chunks of it instead of sweeping or vacuuming up tiny particles.
This particular type of sand is light brown like natural sand, so once you start using it, you'll feel like you're building things and playing with regular sand and not some other substance. If you're not at the beach, you might even choose to imagine that you are.
In each set of Kinetic Sand Beach sand, you'll get three pounds of this sticky sand, which means you'll have enough to build at least a few different structures. Plus, if you have to share your sand with a few siblings or friends, there'll be more than enough to go around.
Within each set, you'll also get six different castle molds and two different plastic tools that'll help you work with your sand. Since this sand is so sticky, it'll stay in any mold without slipping over the sides like regular sand might. Even if you turn a mold upside down, you'll have to give it a bit of a shake in order to empty the sand out. The included instruction guide will help you learn to use the molds, and the case that each set comes in can be used as a sandbox.
Kinetic Sand Beach sand is free of wheat, gluten, and casein, three natural substances that many children and adults tend to be allergic to. If you fall into that category of people, and you get some of the sand stuck to your skin, you won't have an allergic reaction. Just remember that the sand isn't edible, so it should never be going anywhere near your mouth.
To play with sand on an actual beach, you'll have to wait for a fairly warm day without rain, but with this play sand, you'll be able to bring the beach to yourself. It's safe to play with Kinetic Sand Beach sand both indoors and out, during any season, so by playing with it, you may be able to say you've built a sandcastle (indoors) during a snowstorm.
Since it's been designed to never dry out, all three pounds of this sand will likely last you for as long as you're interested in using it. You may choose to store it in a plastic container when it's not in use, but if not, storage space is actually provided within the box each package of sand comes in.
If you were to play with natural sand indoors, you'd probably find yourself sweeping sand up off the floor and furniture, and brushing sand off your hair, skin, clothes or all three. Even if you were to play outdoors and save your floors and furniture from a huge mess, you'd likely end up with sand all over your body anyhow. Fortunately, however, Kinetic Sand Beach sand will stick to itself in clumps, instead of sticking to you or other objects, so you won't need to do any of these cleanup tasks after using it.
This moldable sand will make a good gift for almost any young boy or girl on a special occasion, such as a birthday or Christmas. In most locations, the child will be able to open it up and use it right away, and their parents won't be annoyed since it won't make a mess. Due to the fact that you can mold nearly any object you want to with this sand, it'll appeal equally to kids of both genders.
Light brown is a good shade for this sand since it makes it look authentic, but it would be nice if a couple more shades could be made available, too. Then users could make attractive-looking brown sandcastles and add decorative touches with a brighter shade or two, such as pink and blue. You might be tempted to dye your sand in order to do this now, but that will change its consistency and may make it less sticky and moldable.
The box that each set of Kinetic Sand Beach sand comes in is meant to double as a sandbox, but it won't make a very large sandbox. Each is only about the size of a small pizza box, so you'll only be able to fit one constructed castle in it at once. If you want to save more than one structure at a time, you'll have to find more containers on your own to build them in.
Whatever you do, don't let anyone eat this sand, including pets, babies, and toddlers. Although it's made with natural sand, there are some ingredients in it that are non-natural, which could be toxic. Furthermore, it probably tastes bad. In order to keep pets and tiny children from eating it, it's best to play with this sand far away from them, and store it somewhere out of their reach.
You might want to add water to this sand in order to make it even more sticky, but that won't work. It's at its stickiest when left as is, and adding water or any other liquid substance will liquify it too much, making it a bit runny instead of moldable and packable.
If you choose to use Play-Doh or another kind of modeling clay to mold sandcastles and other objects, instead of Kinetic Sand Beach sand, you may end up getting a lot of replacement packages. Clay will dry out fairly quickly if it's left out on a table or counter, or even if you don't put a lid on it tightly enough when you store it away. You may never have to obtain a replacement kit of Kinetic Sand Beach sand, though, as it's been designed to refrain from drying out, no matter where you leave it when you're not using it.
