Pros

  • Easy

The application is significantly easier than other at-home applications. When it comes to other alternatives it can be quite messy especially if you use trays. Trays tend to switch around and they don't always fit properly depending on your teeth. With the pen you can avoid any of these downfalls by easily applying the gel exactly to your teeth.

Things like whitening strips can get really tricky because they are completely flat. Not everyone has completely flat teeth and therefore the strips do not necessarily stick perfectly across each tooth the way they should. However, with the gel pen you can color each to see exactly how you need it.

Cons

  • White Variety

The product uses a gel pen would just very effective when it comes to application. It is significantly easier to simply color over each of your teeth. However, there is no specific information provided as to how much you should be using on each tooth and at what point you adequately covered the tooth.

Moving the gel pen down from left to right and up to down might be effective but you have to work very hard to make sure that you evenly coat each and every tooth. If 12th, for example gets more of the gel on it then theoretically the LED light will cause that 12th to be slightly brighter than the other teeth.

  • No Replacements

Another downside is that the LED light can theoretically be used repeatedly for teeth whitening so long as you keep new batteries in the device. However the pen itself does not have the same function and once it is empty you have to buy the entire package again before you can use it.

Save Money

Using this particular whitening system saves you money insofar as the cost for the comprehensive unit is significantly cheaper than other teeth whitening units on the market. There are many LED light teeth whitening options today and they all tend to run a bit more expensive than this particular product. Professional teeth whitening by dentist can cost hundreds of dollars and take showers across multiple days. This unit can be done at home with only a few minutes per day and does not cost nearly as much. Long-term, if you are getting the same results more or less from this particular at-home device then it makes fiscal sense to turn into something like this rather than a professional whitening.

Save Time

Theoretically with this unit you apply the whitening pen to your teeth and then shine the light on your teeth and wait only a few minutes. Within a few minutes your teeth are allegedly noticeably whiter. This particular device doesn't take very long for you to use it and achieve to color sizes wider than what you have right now. That means that in less time than other alternative teeth whitening measures you can have a brighter smile.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Gel Pen

Take the whitening pen and cover each of your teeth evenly and equally after drying them to the best of your ability.

  2. Light

Once the gel is on the teeth place the Ionic light against your teeth and turn it on. The LED light should activate the micro pore gel so that you get a deeper, whiter smile.

  3. Finish

When the time is up, rinse your mouth and repeat as required.

Alternatives

  • Whitening Strips

There are many teeth whitening strips on the market today. They are designed to be placed over each of your teeth, and left on your teeth for roughly one hour per day. Generally speaking the strips are meant to be worn once a day for seven days or once a day for 14 days.

Many brands such as crest whitening strips are among the most popular and the cheapest. With crest whitening strips, for example, you can buy a 14 day kit and simply where the strips twice per day and cut down the total time to seven days.

The downside is that the peroxide that bleaches your teeth is contained on the strips. If the strips do not fit over your teeth perfectly or they shift during the hour that you were wearing them, some of the peroxide can get onto your gums. This causes inflammation and irritation.

Your teeth can also become very sensitive after lots of whitening methods especially long-term exposure to bleaching agents like the teeth whitening strips.

  • Professional Whitening

Another alternative is to go to your dentist and get professional teeth whitening.

How it's Different from Competitors

There are also many gels and LEDs similar to the Ionic White. These come in the form of trace. You have a tray like you would get a dentist inside of which you scored a specific amount of teeth whitening peroxide. Then you're supposed to put the trays in your mouth and hold them in place for specific amount of time. Some products come with the same LED light so that the ionic light can expedite the process of teeth whitening. Others do not come with this light and simply take longer to complete.

Professional teeth whitening dries out your teeth so that you get a wider smile. It uses light similar to this light to oxidize your teeth so that you get a brighter smile with less time. The amount of bleach or peroxide used to whiten your teeth is higher when you go to a dentist because it is a controlled substance that your dentist overseas. This means that your teeth are bleached faster but it does cost more money. At home kits are regulated and have a lower dose of the peroxide for your safety.

Does It Really Work?

This whitening system does work similarly to other whitening systems if you follow the directions explicitly. However, many of the advertisements claim that you will have brighter, whiter smiles and they show drastic results. Be aware that every teeth whitening system you use will probably manifest in the same disappointing results if you believe that you will achieve the results shown on the advertisement. These results are not common. What is common is simply achieving a smile that is two shades brighter than what you have right now.
