Hydralight Fuel Cells are a special kind of battery that is powered by water or any other liquid you might have on hand. They work in a particular kind of flashlight called the HydraLight, and once you insert a HydraCell battery into one of these lights, you'll be able to use it as you would a standard flashlight. The combination of cell and light are ideal for use both outdoors and in emergency situations, such as power outages.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Open up Base

To begin using your HydraLight, you'll need to open up its base and pull out the HydraCell that you'll find in there.

  2. Dip Cell in Water

To power up the HydraCell you've pulled out, you must dip it in a glass of water. You'll only need to do this for 10 to 12 seconds, but make sure that the entire cell goes under the water. The water you use should be close to room temperature as opposed to being warm, hot or incredibly cold.

  3. Insert Cell Back in Light

Once you've submerged your battery cell in water, it'll be time to insert it back into the flashlight it came out of. Before you do so, give it a shake to get rid of any excess water that may be present on its inside or outside. When you go to put it back in your flashlight, be sure that the arrow on the cell is pointing towards the top of the flashlight instead of the bottom. If not, the cell may not send power to the flashlight properly.

  4. Screw on Base

After your cell is inside your HydraLight, screw the base back on the light with one or both hands.

  5. Turn on Flashlight

The last step is turning on your flashlight, which you can do by pushing the black power button outlined in yellow near the flashlight's top.

How It Works

Due to new fuel cell technology, the HydraCell working in conjunction with the water it's been submerged in can actually power certain devices like the HydraLight. Therefore, if you have one of these flashlights, you won't need solar power, standard batteries or electricity to provide yourself with illumination in any situation.

Positive Points

  • Ideal for Emergencies

Hydralight Fuel Cells are ideal for use in emergencies such as unexpected power outages, as they don't require electricity to be charged or used. If you insert one in a HydraLight, you and your household will have enough light to see for hours. When inserted in a HydraLight, these cells are also useful if you need to pull over and do emergency car maintenance on the roadside, especially if you're in an area with no other lighting.

  • Good for Outdoor Use

Besides emergencies, these cells are great for general outdoor use, when paired with the HydraLight. You may also find one of these lights helpful if you're vacationing at a campsite with no electricity. • Powered by Any Liquid

While these battery cells have been designed to be powered by water, you can power them by using other liquids such as juice, milk or soda if you don't have any water on hand. In an emergency situation, you might also choose to use another liquid to power one of your cells and save your water supply for people to drink.

Negative Points

  • Larger Than Standard Batteries

Hydralight Fuel Cells are about two or three times the size of standard AA batteries, which means they'll take up more storage space than those when they're not being used in HydraLights.

Critical Advice

When you're not using your HydraLight, remember to turn it off by using the black power button you used to turn it on. Even though the Hydralight Fuel Cells are long-lasting in comparison to standard batteries, they will burn out eventually, so you shouldn't waste their power by leaving a light you don't need on. By turning off your HydraLight when you don't need it, you'll also reduce the number of times that you'll have to dunk the cell within in water to recharge it.
