To get started with your Furniture Sox, pick up one of your Sox and appropriately tip a piece of furniture so that you can add the silicone protector to one leg. The device will stretch a fair amount to allow you to comfortably insert the leg inside it, and it'll mold itself to conform to the particular shape of the leg in question. When you're finished putting the leg inside, the brown felt pad should be visible and touchable on the base of that leg. If you can't feel the felt, that means your silicone protector is inside-out.
Once you've determined that the first silicone protector you've added is not inside out, you'll need to repeat the previous step on all three or four legs of the furniture you're working with. You should always add protectors to each leg, even if you think some of the legs won't need them, in order to keep the length of all the legs even.
With protectors added to all the legs of your chosen piece of furniture, you'll be able to use it as you normally would. However, there should be one major difference. The piece of furniture will likely glide along your floor more smoothly than it did before, and there will be little to no chance that it'll scratch your flooring as it does so. Instead of hard wooden legs coming in contact with your flooring, the soft felt pads on the bottom of the protectors will be what's coming in contact with the floor.
Furniture Sox are clear and translucent, which means that they probably won't clash with any form of decor in any room you choose to use them in. Regardless of whether you use them on black pieces of furniture, brown pieces, or pieces of a less common shade, they'll do their job in the same way.
The silicone material used to make each of these protectors is flexible and soft, as opposed to being hard and rigid. Therefore, each protector will bend and flex to fit around furniture legs of various shapes, including some that are curved in an uncommon manner. The only furniture legs that these protectors may not be able to cover properly are incredibly large or incredibly small ones (if the legs are too small, the protectors may simply fall off).
All Furniture Sox are both waterproof and moisture-proof, which means that if water or various other forms of liquid come in contact with them, they won't lose their effectiveness. As a result, aside from the furniture in your home or office, you may want to use them to protect the legs of your porch or patio furniture.
It's stated that these silicone protectors are resistant to wear and tear, so even if you frequently move pieces of furniture around your home or office, the protectors should stay strongly intact throughout this movement. In fact, each one may last you for several years or more, after it's been used to cover a certain furniture leg.
The inside of the felt pad on the bottom of each protector contains non-slip particles. Consequently, even though the pads will glide smoothly along when you want them to, they'll also hold the furniture legs they're covering securely in place when you're not pushing your furniture.
Each set of Furniture Sox will accommodate 16 furniture legs, which typically means that each one will protect four pieces of furniture—assuming that each has four legs. If you use any of your silicone protectors on three-legged pieces of furniture, you may have some stray ones left behind in the end. Of course, you can obtain as many sets of 16 protectors as you need to for your own furniture pieces.
One major benefit of covering the legs of your chairs, tables, stools, sofas, and such with these protectors is that they'll reduce the amount of noise your furniture makes as you move it. This may be especially important when it comes to chairs and stools, which you may slide back and forth near a certain table on a regular basis. Once the felt pads of your Furniture Sox are hitting your floor instead of the wood of your furniture's legs, your furniture's movement should be close to whisper-quiet and shouldn't disturb others.
With each double set of Furniture Sox (which includes 32 Sox), you'll also receive a small bottle of Scratch Mender, a Dutch Glow solution that'll help mend floor scratches. When you apply this solution to any existing scratch on a wooden floor, you'll be able to either make the scratch disappear altogether or dramatically minimize its appearance. This solution can be used on any type of wood of any shade. The number of scratches that you'll be able to treat with one bottle will depend on how large or small they are.
Many people will likely appreciate the clear shade that Furniture Sox come in, but some users might prefer to have furniture protectors that are the exact same shade as their pieces of furniture. As a solution to this problem, you could color these furniture protectors with markers or paint to make them a different shade, but they might end up looking tacky, especially if you aren't artistically skilled. Furthermore, this project would take some time to complete, and you'd have to let the protectors dry for at least a few minutes before using them.
Without furniture protectors such as these ones, your hardwood flooring might get scratched up by wooden furniture legs and need to be replaced. The legs of your furniture might also pick up lots of scuff marks, which could tempt you to replace certain pieces, too. Fortunately, once you start adding Furniture Sox to the legs of your wooden pieces of furniture, they'll be much gentler on your wooden floors as you slide them around. Along the same lines, the tops of the furniture protectors will protect the bottoms of the legs from picking up as many unsightly scuff marks as they otherwise would.
