How It Works

Besides having a diamond granite finish, which promotes durability and a non-stick inner surface, each Gotham Steel Diamond Granite Pan is made from titanium and has a solid aluminum disk inside. As you cook your food, this solid aluminum disk will help ensure that heat is transferred quickly and evenly throughout the pan, so there won't be any burned spots or cold spots. Once you're done your cooking, the diamond granite coating that's been added in three layers on top of the disk will enable your food to slide smoothly out of your pan and onto a plate.

  • Flame Resistant

This particular pan is flame resistant, which means that you'll be able to use it to make flambe-style dishes without worrying about damaging the pan. Plus, if your stovetop ever accidentally catches on fire while you're cooking, your pan likely won't end up getting damaged in that situation, either.

  • Oven Safe

The Gotham Steel Diamond Granite Pan can be used safely in an oven, as long as the oven's temperature isn't any higher than 500 degrees Fahrenheit. Therefore, you'll have the option of using this pan to bake food items such as desserts, in addition to using it to fry or sear food on your stovetop.

  • No Lubricants Required

As each pan has a 100 percent non-stick surface, you won't need to use any lubricants such as butter or cooking oil to help your food slide off of it. Certain lubricants can add fat and calories to any food dish they're used with, so refraining from using lubricants may end up making the meals you make with this pan healthier than they'd otherwise be. What's more, you probably won't be heading to the store to pick up greasy items like butter as often as you would be if you were to use a pan that's less smooth.

  • Chip and Scratch-Proof

The non-stick inner surface of this pan also leads to it being chip and scratch-proof. No matter what type of utensils you use to move food around within it, it's diamond granite finish won't flake off in any way and accidentally end up in your food.

  • Double-Rivet Handle

Every Gotham Steel Diamond Granite Pan has one handle that you'll be able to use to carry the pan around your kitchen. It won't get as hot as the pan, so you may not need oven mitts, and its double rivets will help it stay securely attached to your pan throughout its lifetime. Some handles are only attached to their respective pans with a single rivet, but that makes those handles more likely to fall off.

Positive Points

  • Looks Attractive

Every one of these pans comes in a shade of dark green (with speckling) that will look attractive in virtually any kitchen, and each one's handle is a shade of silver. Since many pieces of kitchenware tend to be green or blue, you may find that one of these pans matches the pieces you already have quite well.

  • Recipe Book Included

You may know exactly what you want to cook with your Gotham Steel Diamond Granite Pan, but if not, the recipe book that's included with each one will likely help you out. This guide contains cooking instructions for a variety of recipes that, considered as a group, are suitable for all three meals. If you're a novice cook who has just picked up one of these pans or has received one as a gift, you may benefit from browsing your guide before heading to the stove.

  • Quick Cleanup

Since this pan's inner surface falls into the non-stick category, you won't have to scrub it vigorously for up to a half hour to try and remove caked-on or burnt-on food. As soon as you begin to rinse the pan, any food remnants that haven't made it to a dish or plate will slide off into your sink, giving you a smooth inner surface to wash. It's not stated that this pan is dishwasher safe, but washing it by hand should only take a few minutes, anyhow.

Negative Points

  • Round and Shallow

The diameter of this pan is fairly generous, but it's unfortunate that the pan's round and quite shallow as opposed to being square and deeper. It's common sense that cooks can normally fit more food into a square, deep pan than they can fit into one that's round with less depth. This may not matter to you if you usually cook food for just one or two people, but users cooking for large groups may miss the space they'd get by using a square, deep pan.

  • No Lid

Another drawback to this round pan is that it doesn't come with a lid, something that many cooks find useful when it comes to preventing grease splatters. Due to this lack of a lid, you may find that grease specks show up on your stovetop, on your counter or even on your clothing as you cook with this pan.

  • Don't Put In Microwave

Even if you can get one of these pans to fit in your microwave, which is doubtful when one considers the size of most microwaves, it's not microwave-safe. It may not cook the food inside it effectively if it were used in a microwave, and exposing the pan to a powered-up microwave might actually damage it and make it unusable.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Do Not Overfill

If you want the quick and even heating of food that's been promised by this pan's designers, you must be careful not to overload the pan. Each piece of food inside it must have its own place to rest, instead of having to sit directly on top of another, or the pan may be overloaded. If you overload it and some of the food loses contact with the pan's inner surface, the aluminum plate's heat transferring skills may not work as nicely as usual.

  2. Carry With Dominant Hand

As mentioned, the Gotham Steel Diamond Granite Pan only has one handle, so it's best to carry it in your dominant hand that will naturally provide a stronger grip. If you happen to feel unbalanced while carrying your pan, just add an oven mitt to your non-dominant hand and place it against the side of the pan without a handle.
