Cradle Wedge is a pillow-like device that's been designed to provide side sleepers with a great deal of support throughout the night. With a taller height at one end in comparison to the other, the wedge-shaped device is meant to conform to the shape of a person's side and shoulder as they lie down. The idea is that this will offer them more support than they'd otherwise get as they sleep, and this will cause them to wake up feeling more rested and less stiff than usual.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Position on Bed

To get started with your Cradle Wedge, you'll need to position it properly on your bed. Before you do so, you can decide whether to add the included cotton cover, put the wedge in a pillowcase, or use it on its own. The ideal resting place for it is three inches below the bottom center of your pillow (or stack of pillows).

  2. Lie Down With Wedge

Next, lie down on the side of your choice, placing your torso against the wedge and resting the shoulder on that side of your body in the space between the wedge and your pillow. For optimum comfort, your elbow and arm should rest near your shoulder.

  3. Enjoy Sleep or Rest

Once you've got yourself in the proper position, leave your other arm and shoulder resting against the side of your torso that's not touching the wedge. Following that, you should be able to go to sleep or have a rest as you normally would, and you can expect the wedge to stay in place without sliding around.

  • Compact

Measuring 16 (length) by 15 (width) by 5 inches (depth), each Cradle Wedge is compact enough that it'll fit into a standard pillowcase. As a result, if you get tired of looking at the included cotton cover, you'll be able to put your wedge into a different pillowcase in order to give it a new look. Along the same lines, each of these wedges can be rolled up so that they're small enough to fit into a suitcase, a gym bag, or a large handbag. That makes them ideal for road trips or office use.

  • Washable Cover

Each Cradle Wedge comes with a white cotton cover that's machine washable. Every one of these covers is form-fitting and will help keep the wedge it's covering in place, so your wedge will be unlikely to slide around on you in the middle of the night. However, you should let your cover air-dry when you take it out of your washing machine (or laundry tub, if you don't have a machine) because the cotton might shrink in a tumble-dryer.

  • Light Blue Memory Foam

When the Cradle Wedge is uncovered, you'll notice that each one is made from light blue memory foam. While this memory foam isn't so flimsy that it won't provide your body with support, it's not so hard that it'll be uncomfortable for most users to lie on, either. If you decide that you don't want to use your cover or a pillowcase, the light blue shade may look quite nice in your bedroom. In the event that the foam ever gets dirty, you can wipe it down with water, as it shouldn't be cleaned in a washing machine.

  • Doubles as Lumbar Cushion

Aside from helping you sleep comfortably, the Cradle Wedge can also act as a lumbar support cushion while a user is sitting down. You may want to use it while you're sitting in your car or on your office chair, or place it against your headboard while you're sitting in bed. For effective support, though, you must place the thickest end against your lower back.

Positive Points

  • Aids With Spine Alignment

If you sleep on your side with your head on one or more pillows, your spine could end up resting in a curved position that may result in pain or stiffness when you wake up. Your head, neck, and shoulders might end up resting in uncomfortable, unnatural curved positions, too. Fortunately, the unique slope of the Cradle Wedge will keep your spine and the rest of your body in a fairly straight line as you sleep, so you'll be less likely to experience early-morning discomfort.

  • Helps With Sleep

When your body is aligned in an ideal manner, it logically follows that you may start to experience improved sleep each night. The Cradle Wedge's sturdy memory foam and cotton cover will also hold the device in place and help stop you from tossing or turning, which will lead to sleep with fewer interruptions. If you can bank hours of deep sleep each night while using this device, you might find that you're far more productive during the day than you were before using the wedge.

  • Won't Bother Partner

This wedge is for an individual to use under their own body, so if you sleep with a partner, resting upon one yourself won't change or disrupt their sleep. They won't have to change the angle of their body at all, as they might have to if you were to get an elevated mattress. If you and your bedmate are both side sleepers, though, you could each obtain a Cradle Wedge and use them side-by-side for peaceful sleep throughout the night.

Negative Points

  • Not for Back, Stomach Sleepers

The Cradle Wedge has been made specifically for side sleepers, so people who sleep on their backs or stomachs may not find it useful at all. As a back sleeper, you could place the thickest part of the wedge under your lower back and the thinner part under your upper back, but it's unclear whether this would be comfortable or not. When it comes to stomach sleepers, having a wedge shoved under one's stomach in any manner would be more likely to lead to a sleepless night instead of preventing one.

  • May Not Suit Children

This device has a length that's been chosen to fit the length of the average adult's upper torso, from the waist to the armpit. Consequently, if you were to offer it to a child to use, it might actually be too long for them and extend down towards the hip area. This could interfere with the level of support it could offer a child, and the same goes if you're an adult with an extremely short torso who's looking to use the device. For this reason, it would be helpful if this wedge could come in a few different lengths.

Save Time

If you sleep on your side with the support of your mattress only, you might spend lots of time visiting a chiropractor, physiotherapist, or massage therapist to have your back, neck, or shoulder pain treated. On the other hand, if you start making use of the Cradle Wedge, this discomfort may naturally begin to disappear, and you may no longer need to attend these regular appointments.
