Before you'll be able to use this leg elevation cushion, you'll need to inflate it by using the included pump. If you're not sure exactly how to use the pump, consult your instruction manual. Once the cushion is inflated, it should be 16 inches long, 20 inches wide and 10 inches tall.
Next, you'll have to decide whether you're going to sleep or rest on a bed, couch or floor, and place your cushion there. If you want your calves and feet elevated, you should be able to read the "Contour" logo while it's facing you. The taller side of the cushion should also be farther away from where you're going to place your head than the shorter side is. If you'd like to elevate your knees at a higher level than your calves or feet, simply flip your cushion so the tallest side is closest to where you'll place your head.
After your cushion is resting securely in the position of your choice, it'll be time to lie down. Logically, you should be on your back with your lower body resting on the cushion and your head resting on some sort of pillow. Within minutes, you should notice that any pain, swelling or stiffness in your body is starting to diminish, and you'll likely feel more relaxed and rejuvenated than you did before lying down.
For optimum results, it's best to stay lying down with your cushion for at least 10 minutes, if not the entire night! Whenever you choose to get up, however, you'll have the choice of deflating your cushion and storing it away or leaving it inflated if you think you'll use it again soon. For more precise instructions on the deflation process, remember to consult your instruction manual.
It's commonly known that elevating your legs as you sleep or rest can help relieve discomfort that arises from a wide variety of health issues, from sports injuries to sciatica to varicose veins. If you don't elevate your legs at an ideal angle, though, doing this may not be as effective as you hope it'll be. That's why the Contour 2-In-1 Leg Relief Wedge will elevate either your calves and feet or your knees to an ideal angle of 40 degrees as you lie down. With your legs resting at that angle, above your heart, you'll get as much relief from pain and discomfort as a cushion can possibly give you. Take note that if you've got your calves and feet elevated, you'll feel more relief in the back, legs, and feet, while elevating the knees will provide more relief to the lower back or hips.
This leg elevation cushion is suitable for adult men and women of all ages, from young adults to seniors. Kids can safely use it, too—the only complication is that the cushion may be longer than the length of their lower legs (from their feet to their knees). Shorter adults may have to deal with the same issue, although these shorter people will likely be able to derive some benefits from using this cushion anyhow. If no one needs to use the cushion super-frequently, one cushion could actually be shared among several members of a family or household.
This cushion comes in an attractive shade of light blue that will look good with the decor in most rooms. There are also white hemp covers available for individual cushions if you'd like to add one to yours.
When deflated, each Leg Relief Wedge is compact, so you'll be able to bring yours along with you if you're traveling by vehicle. You can toss your deflated cushion and its accompanying pump into your vehicle on their own, but you may even be able to fit the cushion into your suitcase while it's deflated and folded. Whether you're staying at a hotel, a cottage, someone else's home or a campsite, you'll be able to use the cushion to aid yourself with relieving any pain you experience during or after the drive.
Everything about this cushion is quick—it's quick to pump up and set up, and once you're using it, it'll typically provide quick relief from pain, stiffness, swelling or injuries. If you've got limited time to use your cushion during the day, and don't want to sleep with it, about 10 minutes of use per day should do a lot of good within a week.
By helping you elevate your legs, this cushion will specifically target discomfort in the back, hips, legs, and feet, but using it can help you rejuvenate your entire body. If you use it all night as you sleep, you'll likely wake up feeling more refreshed and ready to be productive than you have in a long time. You'll probably notice that even your arms and your neck feel less stiff than they normally do, and if you often stretch before getting out of bed, you may be able to skip that.
It's stated that a pillow for the head is included with each Contour 2-In-1 Leg Relief Wedge, so if you haven't found a pillow that totally satisfies you, this one might do the trick. It'll also come in handy if you want to use your wedge on the floor but don't want to remove a pillow from your bed or couch in order to make doing so comfortable.
The material used to make each of these wedge-shaped cushions appears to be quite sturdy, but as with any inflatable device, a hole could potentially form within your cushion. It could then be difficult or impossible to repair, and one of these cushions will not be effective if you can't inflate it fully. In order to prevent this issue from arising, you'll need to make an effort to keep your cushion away from sharp objects, like pets' claws and tools such as scissors or knitting needles.
