This coffee maker works by virtue of a special slow-steeping method, through which the flavor from the coffee beans used is extracted, as powdered coffee passes through the filter within the device, without heat. Since the coffee is brewed cold, it also ends up containing up to 65 percent less acid than standard hot-brewed coffee, making it taste less sour or bitter.
To start using your Cold Brew Cafe, you'll need to fill it up with water in a way similar to how you'd fill a standard coffee maker. If you're not sure exactly how to do this properly, consult the instructions included with your device.
Next, add a few spoonfuls of any brand of powdered coffee to your device's reusable filter. Remember that the more spoonfuls you add, the stronger your coffee will be.
Once you've added coffee to your machine, make sure the stay-fresh lid is on it, and put it in your refrigerator. After it's in there, it'll start brewing your coffee immediately, and you should have at least a cup in a couple of minutes' time.
When your coffee is done brewing, you can simply pour a cup and drink it, but if you decide you want warm coffee after all, it can be heated in the microwave. Flavoring such as milk, cream and sugar can be added in the same way you would normally add them to a hot-brewed cup.
With each Cold Brew Cafe, you'll get two reusable filters to be placed within it. Therefore, you won't need to contribute to the world's current level of waste by frequently switching filters and throwing the old ones out.
The stay-fresh lid that comes with each coffee maker will help the coffee within remain fresh for up to three weeks from the time you've made it. In order to optimize freshness, it's best to keep the brewed coffee in your refrigerator and leave the lid on when your'e not pouring it.
In each batch of coffee that you brew with this device, you'll get up to 20 cups of coffee, with the exact number depending on the size of cup you use. That means if you live alone, or are the only coffee drinker in your household, you may only need to make coffee once a week or less!
When coffee is brewed in a standard coffee maker that uses heat to extract flavor, the coffee remains quite acidic and may taste bitter. However, Cold Brew Cafe's cold-brewing method will remove up to 65 percent of the acid from your coffee, giving you a less bitter flavor that you may prefer.
All parts of this coffee-making machine can be rinsed out in the sink in just minutes, readying them for their next use.
Each machine comes with a recipe book, so if you're bored with drinking a standard cup of coffee, you'll be able to learn how to make some more complicated concoctions.
You must have a refrigerator in order to effectively use the Cold Brew Cafe, so if yours is broken or otherwise unavailable for some reason, you'll have to switch to a different brewing method.
As mentioned, coffee that has been brewed with heat can taste more bitter than the cold-brewed variety, and it's also not an ideal choice on a hot day. Plus, if you spill it on yourself in the car, it may burn you, while cold-brewed coffee will not.
Iced coffee may give you the chilly coffee taste you desire, but once the ice within it begins to melt, the coffee will start to taste watered-down. With Cold Brew Cafe, you'll get cold coffee without using any ice cubes, although it's fine to keep using them if you want to.
Some fast-food places and coffee shops serve cold-brewed coffee, but you'll need to spend extra time going into a shop, waiting in line, and forking over up to a few dollars for your cup.
If you only like hot coffee, but don't like it bitter, or are trying to stick to a low-acid diet, you may still find Cold Brew Cafe useful. You can simply use the machine to eliminate some of the acid and bitterness from your brew, and then warm up the coffee in the microwave whenever you choose. The coffee will still taste fresher for longer than coffee made with a standard machine.
