The CATch-It Cat Toy is a two-layered fabric saucer that contains a pretend mouse between its two layers of fabric. After you insert the appropriate batteries into the toy and turn it on, the mouse will begin to move in an unpredictable way between the two pieces of tear-resistant material. This is meant to trigger your cat's natural hunting instincts and promote fitness by causing them to run, walk, jump and pounce while trying to catch the toy mouse.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Insert Batteries

Before your cat will be able to play with this toy, you'll need to insert the appropriate batteries. It's not stated that they're included with each toy, so you'll probably have to provide them on your own, and you can consult your instruction manual to find out what type you need.

  2. Place On Flat Surface

After you've put batteries in your cat's toy, place it on a flat surface, such as a carpeted or wood floor, and turn it on. You'll notice that once you do, the toy mouse inside begins to move in various directions. At this point, you'll also have the option of turning the sound on, which will make the mouse make squeaking noises.

  3. Call Your Cat

If your cat hears squeaking noises, they might come running over right away, and the fact that this toy is infused with catnip might also attract them to it. However, if they don't come, you can call them over (or pick them up and place them next to the toy) and introduce them to this new game. Most cats will likely begin trying to get the toy mouse as soon as they notice that it's moving. If your cat doesn't do so, you can demonstrate how to play this game by swiping at the mouse a few times yourself.

  4. Turn Off and Fold Up

When your cat's done playing, turn the toy off to conserve the battery. You can either leave the toy where it is or fold it up and store it away until you need to use it again. Since it'll fold up to a fairly small size, it'll fit in nearly any drawer or cupboard.

Features

  • Tear-Resistant Nylon

Each CATch-It Cat Toy is made of tear-resistant nylon, so even if your cat aggressively scratches it while trying to get the mouse inside, it's unlikely that they'll be able to seriously damage it.

  • Catnip Infused

Every one of these toys has also been infused with catnip, which makes each one give off a certain smell that'll automatically attract most cats to the area it's in. If you want to make your cat's toy smell even more like catnip, you'll have the option of rubbing catnip on the top layer of fabric, too.

  • Optional Sound

To make things more exciting for your cat, you may want to turn on the optional sound, which will make it seem as if the mouse inside is not only moving but also squeaking. If your cat is scared of the sound, though, or it annoys you or any other people in the house, it can be immediately turned off, and the mouse will keep moving without making noise.

  • Circular Design

This toy has a full 360-degree circular design, which means that if you have more than one cat, and they get along, there may be room for all of them to use it at once. Given the size of this toy, it's probable that three or four cats will be able to try and get the mouse at the same time without constantly bumping into each other. If you've got a very large cat, however, or one who gets extremely aggressive during play, it may be best for them to play alone.

Positive Points

  • No Human Effort Required

If you're a very busy person, you may not have hours to dangle a string in front of your cat or toss a toy back and forth to them. Luckily, once you've set up one of these circular toys and put the batteries in, your cat will be able to play without any further action from you. The movement of the mouse inside is so variable that it may keep a cat or a group of cats entertained for hours while you get work done nearby.

  • Encourages Fitness

Aside from just being fun, this toy will encourage somewhat lethargic cats to get up off the couch or their favorite chair and start moving. The stimulation of the toy mouse's motion may also make senior cats who've become sedentary more interested in playing again. If your cat is overweight, running after the mouse within this toy may make them drop a few pounds, and if they're not overweight, this action may prevent them from becoming so. Plus, cats who maintain a healthy level of fitness tend to live longer lives than other felines do.

  • Deluxe Version Available

Besides the standard version of this toy, there's also a deluxe version available. This version works in the same way as the standard one, but the toy mouse inside contains lights that flash as the mouse moves. If your cat enjoys the movement of light and likes to play at nighttime, the deluxe version of the CATch-It Cat Toy may be an ideal choice for you.

Negative Points

  • Cat Can Never Catch Mouse

Many cats will be entertained by the fact that the mouse inside this toy will keep on moving and moving, but some may get frustrated that they can never really catch their prey. Some cats are only satisfied when they can see their prey stop moving and view it up close, but the toy mouse will always keep moving and remain shielded from view. This may cause certain cats to give up and abandon the toy, or even get angry.

  • Must Keep Batteries On Hand

This cat toy is only powered by batteries, so if your cat plays with it frequently, you'll need to keep sets of replacement batteries on hand. Otherwise, you might find yourself dealing with a whiny, disappointed cat who's wondering why their favorite toy isn't working as usual.

Warnings

  • Not For Large Dogs

Tiny dogs may enjoy playing with one of these toys along with cats, but it isn't safe for dogs who aren't small to play with. If large or even medium-sized dogs were to play with cats, they might get too aggressive and scare or accidentally hurt the cats. Furthermore, the nylon used to construct each toy has been made to withstand the scratching done by a cat, but it may not stand up to a larger dog's more powerful claws.
