Block Cop is a hidden camera that takes the form of a USB charging block so no one knows it is there. This unit has a wide angle, high definition camera which records activity in and around your house with stunning clarity. You can record crystal clear video and audio using this device so that you can view what is going on in your house. Use it outside and catch thieves, or plug it in at work to add protection.

- Monitor Kids
Block cop allows you to see behind closed doors or your conversations upstairs. Concerned parents can plug them in to the outlets in a kids room or guest room. The unit does actually work as a charging block so you could theoretically give them to your kids to use when charging smart phones, all the while actually recording the activity in the room.
- Monitor the Office
Offices looking to make sure that everything is secure can provide block cop devices to private employees. Assuming that those employees have been briefed that they may or may not be recorded at any time. Such an all-encompassing warning could be administered when employees are hired or when they install new security systems so that it doesn’t coincide with disseminating block cop.
- Stop Theft
If you are having issues with things like theft, perhaps packages go missing from your front porch, this is great. Alternatively, if you are certain that a member of your family is taking the car at night when they shouldn’t, this is perfect. That said, if you have an outlet outside, you can plug it in and monitor all of the activity.
- No Way to Tell Full
Sadly, there is, unfortunately, no way to tell when the unit is full. There is no mechanism that alerts you to the fact that your storage is full which means that it is up to you to regularly check and see how much space you have left.
- No Extra Storage
There is no way to add extra storage space to it because the unit does not have any room for a microSD chip or SD card of any kind. As such you are stuck with the maximum 32 GB hard drive and the responsibility of regularly clearing that out.
- Cannot Use Anywhere
You cannot set this up just anywhere. It only works if it is actively plugged in. Therefore you can only use it in the spaces where you have an outlet. Given the fact that outlets are generally very close to the ground, you will not be able to record from a high distance and more than likely will only get waist level and lower. In order to record content from a bird’s eye perspective you would need to install outlets higher up or use something like a discreet extension cord.
How it's Different from Competitors
Block cop gives you an extra set of eyes and ears in your home or your office. This unassuming USB charging dock actually houses a small HD camera which records in wide angle, high definition video with uniquely stunning clarity. You plug it in and start recording without anyone suspecting a thing. Block cop is a great way to keep an eye on pets when you are out or to keep an eye on babysitters. Traditionally people have used hidden cameras inside of things like stuffed animals but stuffed animals can get knocked over. Something like this will always stay fixed in place and record at the same level. You can even use it for something as innocuous as seeing who is stealing food from the company fridge or office supplies. Plug it in to capture sloppy landscapers.
How to Use (Step by Step)
Remove Block cop from the package.
- Plug in
Plug It In To Any Existing Outlet. The second you plug it and it will start to record automatically.
Unplug it to stop recording.
Reviewing the content is easy. All you have to do is connect the USB cord to your computer and start reviewing the video. There is no set up, no software to install, and no microSD cards required. Given that it plugs in, you don’t even need batteries. With an incredible range, you can record audio and video up to 100 feet. The hard drive stores 32 GB so you can record all day without running out of space.
Tips & Tricks
- Review Daily
Even though the hard drive is substantial, recording video all day is only possible on a regular basis if you clear the content from the SD cards. It is your responsibility to unplug it, review the data, and delete it on a daily basis so that there is enough room for it to continue recording.
- Stop Recording
If you want to stop recording, for example you don’t need a recording while your home but only when you are away, you can simply unplug it once you get back from the office. Then plug it back in when you leave in the morning. Again, reviewing the data on a regular basis and clearing room will allow you to record without any interruption.
One of the biggest issues associated with this particular device is that it records video and audio. Today, many people record video and audio without thinking twice. Modern smart phones have cameras that do so but from a legal standpoint, it is still absolutely, 100% illegal to record audio without getting permission from the people being recorded.
For reasons like this, when you call a customer service line and they want to record the call they have to warn you. Doing so, they warn that the call might be recorded so that you have the option of hanging up and not being recorded if you so choose. That being said the only way to protect yourself from a legal standpoint and still use this device would be to set up a disclaimer. Set it up somewhere in the home, or the yard, depending on where you plug it in. Said disclaimer would have to state that anyone in the area may or may not be recorded. Keep in mind that at no time is it ever permissible to record in a location where people would have a reasonable expectation of privacy ie a bathroom ect. This gives them the option of leaving before they have said or done anything.
Again, most people would not think twice about it and there are certainly no information on the product website or any competing product websites regarding this legal issue. Naturally it is not the responsibility of the manufacturer to post this information but rather the burden of responsibility falls on the shoulders of the consumer.
So make sure that you are smart about using this or any other camera recording device.
