The Atomic Zapper is the first ultrasonic bug zapper that also doubles as an insect repellent. This powerful device works using ultrasonic sound waves that echo through your room at an inaudible frequency, driving insects out. The Atomic Zapper also features Blue Light technology that is meant to attract flying insects and zap them dead on contact. This product functions at a super high frequency that is safe for use around both people and pets.

Total Cost Breakdown

The cost of Atomic Zapper is $19.99 and the shipping is FREE! Price is from As Seen on TV Commercial page:

How it's Different from Competitors

Most insect repellents are only targeted for a few different species and usually contain harsh chemicals that are bad for you and your family. The Atomic Zapper works differently by using sound waves to eliminate and keep bugs away. This bug zapper is also supposed to be able to keep all types of insects away, this includes both flying and crawling insects. It claims to be able to eliminate spiders, ants, mosquitoes, roaches, and even smaller rodents.

  • Blue Light Technology

This product is meant as an insect repellent. However, it also doubles as a bug zapper. It uses a blue light that is meant to attract flying insects and zap them dead instantly on contact.

  • Safe

The Atomic Zapper is meant to be safe for use in the home and will not harm you or your pets. This product does not use any chemicals that could be dangerous to your health. The zapper emits high-frequency sound waves that will not bother you or your pets but will, however, drive insects crazy and keep them away.

  • Double Offer

This product is available in a convenient double offer. You will pay full price for your first Atomic Zapper but get the second one for about half the price.

  • Free Shipping

This product is available with free shipping. Both the regular deal and the double offer have this perk.

Easy to Use

  1. Plug it

The Atomic Zapper is super easy to install and use. It requires absolutely no installation. Simply plug the zapper into any wall outlet, in any room requiring some pest control. Turn it on and it will instantly start emitting ultrasonic sound waves throughout the room and driving pests out.

  • Pest Control

You may also choose to call a professional pest control company. This is a much more expensive alternative and is not usually required unless you have a severe pest problem.

Some of these companies might even also offer a guarantee that if the pests return, they will come back for another treatment at no extra cost.

  • Pesticides

Another alternative would be to visit your local home and garden center and purchase pesticides for use around your home. These can be much cheaper than calling a pest control company but they are often filled with harmful chemicals. Always be sure to read the labels and the follow instructions properly when dealing with any chemical pesticides.

  • Sticky Traps

Most home and garden centers will sell insect traps. These are usually just a strip of cardboard or plastic with a sticky side that is used to attract and trap insects. This is likely not the most effective alternative, but it is likely the cheapest.

  • Bug Spray

You can also use sprays to help keep insects away. However, these are only temporary and often contain DEET and other harmful chemicals.

  • Buzkaban Indoor Zapper

This is another similar bug zapper that you plug into a conventional wall outlet.

  • Ultrasonic Technology

Unfortunately, the ultrasonic technology that the Atomic Zapper boasts may just be too good to be true. The issues that arise include the fact that the device needs to be in an open space to work. The zapper's ultrasonic technology won't work through walls or if it is boxed in by furniture. This device needs to be plugged into an outlet with an open space in order to work properly.

  • Not a Proven Technology

Ultrasonic pest control is not new, but it's not entirely proven, either. In fact, many companies were forced to change the specific wording of their advertising in order to comply with FTC regulations. The FTC has even strictly said that pest control does not work with Ultrasonic devices. Whether or not the Atomic Zapper has found some way to make ultrasonic pest control entirely plausible is left up to the jury.

  • Attracts Mosquitos

Yes, attracting bugs with the blue light technology is exactly what the Atomic Zapper is supposed to do. In that aspect, it does its job. However, mosquitos are much more interested in the carbon dioxide that our bodies give off, rather than the blue light that initially drew them in.

For other bugs that aren't so interested in our bodies, the zapper technology combines with the blue light works great. For mosquitos, on the other hand, the blue light seems to draw them in and then they divert to the closest source of carbon dioxide. This would be whatever human is closest to the Atomic Zapper.

  • Large Bugs

The Atomic Zapper is great for bugs that are drawn in by the light, and the zapper does, in fact, kill them when they go into the slots. However, larger bugs may not be able to fit inside the zapper, which may cause issues. There is nothing in the Atomic Zapper that will repel larger bugs, though the ultrasonic sound waves may be designed to deal with things like spiders or cockroaches.

Tips & Tricks

  1. Use With Traps

If you're relying on the ultrasonic technology to drive away pests like mice, rats or other rodents, you may want to use it along with another form of pest control. A mouse may be driven away from the spot that this is plugged in, but it may find someplace else in your home to reside. Use a humane trap if you're looking to let it loose somewhere else.

  2. Positioning

Due to the size of the device, the Atomic Zapper will need to have a direct line of sight to be able to get rid of any pests that happen to be around. This means that it can only get rid of pests that happen to cross its path. The Atomic Zapper will not be able to repel a mouse that is on the other side of the room, in an opposite corner. Nor will it be able to repel a pest that is in another room.

I Regret Buying it!

These kinds of “pest control” are a joke. They do not work to get rid of mice, rats or any kind of pests. Do Not waste your money.

I Regret Buying it!

Did Not Receive

I ordered this item and for 6 weeks didn't hear from them. I finally got a postcard that the item was back ordered; then I got a postcard saying that they can't get the item and my order was cancelled.

Re: Atomic Bug Zapper

Haven't bought it, them yet, would like the TWO item deal, inexpensive enough to try them, but their site, as well as the site for the, "Sonic Bug Zapper, " are not secure, "https. " Why would anyone do business like that today. My browser on two machines warned me not to use personal info like Credit cards on these two sites. I wish Amazon had this particular product, or an Ebay seller.
