I liked the Aqua Stone so much I have bought one for each room in our house that we use the most. This was the second winter we have used
Them. The only complaint is spotting so I will try the Clorox treatment and see how that works? The Aqua Ball has relieved our winter a static and congestion!

I have been looking for reviews on the stone humidifiers and someone mentioned that the spotting can be mild that is very dangerous to your health. Make sure it’s not spotting that is a different color from the stone. If it looks like it’s just a stain from being wet that should be fine. But spots indicate mold or mildew.
Our house is dry in the winter and we get the tell tale static discharge as a result, so we got the Aqua Stone cheap and decided to try it. Seems to work, so static this year but on the down side the stone has developed some black spots on it. To remedy that I clean the stone weekly and every few days I put in a couple drops of fresh scent Clorox and that seems to somewhat solve that spot issue. Works yes, spots yes, little diligence and that is solved also.

I bought this Aqua Stone in November and have been using it. My concern is the stone has dark spots on it? I wonder why it does that and can it been cleaned and does it affect it's moisturizing ability? Thanks.

On that thought process Tom, if you have two toilets in the house why should someone even have to humidify? The Aqua Stone helps convey the humidity into the air because of it's porous nature.
I used my Aqua Stone at work, filling it with bottled water. Although it kept the static at bay by putting moisture in the air, it turned orange after one week of use. I have tried to wash and scrub it but have had no success. I'm not sure what it is and was worried it was mildew or mold, so I threw it away : (.

I just read that you are supposed to use distilled water for these. After you clean it, try that and then see what happens. Someone said that those mr. Clean sponges clean them.

I have found that my Aqua stone has gradually turned orange from our hard water. Will this interfere with its ability to absorb water? How can I clean it?

It shouldn't affect it, but you'll have to soak it in vinegar to get any excess minerals out of the "pores" so it can continue to absorb. It would be better, of course, to use spring water if you can. Don't worry about the color change.
I used bottled water and it still turned orange. Any other suggestions?
Don't use Spring water; I did and it turned orange and molded. I switched to distilled after soaking it in vinegar.
Have been using the Aqua Stone for 3 nights. Noticed less congestion the first night. Right eye is usually dry, but not since using the Aqua Stone.
