Air Rider

Rate this product

Air Rider is an indoor soccer ball that you can use on almost any type of flooring, including wood, tile, and carpet. Unlike an outdoor soccer ball, it'll glide smoothly along your floors, and bounce off of things without damaging them due to the shock-absorbing ring around the outside. This ball is also ideal to use in the dark since when you push the appropriate button, multicolored LED lights will turn on to give you some illumination.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Place Ball on Floor

To get started with your Air Rider, place it on the floor with the soccer ball design facing upward.

  2. Gently Kick It

Next, gently kick your soccer ball with one foot. You can kick it forwards, sideways or even backward, but be sure to be gentle—with this kind of ball, one push with the foot will go a long way.

  3. Watch it Glide

Following your first kick, watch your soccer ball glide across the room. As it does so, it may hit objects such as walls or furniture and bounce off. You can choose whether to kick it again in a different direction or let it continue on its natural course.

  4. Stop The Ball

Whenever you want to stop your Air Rider from moving, lift one foot and gently place it on top of the ball. You could also try placing your foot on the floor in the ball's path, but if it's got a lot of momentum, it might just bounce right off your foot and keep going.

How It Works

The inside of each Air Rider contains a high-speed motorized fan that constantly moves as the ball does. As it moves, its power lifts the ball slightly off the floor so it can continuously glide, but not so far off the floor that it's flying high above your feet. Therefore, the ball can keep moving in various directions without hitting anything aggressively enough to damage it. If one of these balls does hit something, the shock-absorbing ring around its outside will absorb the majority of the impact, leaving pieces of furniture and walls safe and intact.

Features

  • LED Lights

Every Air Rider ball contains LED lights, a type of small light that tends to last longer than other lights of a similar size. Once you turn the lights within your ball on, they'll light up the multicolored design on top, making the whole ball appear as if it's glowing with multicolored light. If you're playing a soccer game by yourself or with others at night, and you don't want to turn on any regular lights, you won't have to. Instead, your ball will give you enough illumination to see it and any obstacles around you.

  • Powerful Glide

This indoor soccer ball has a glide so powerful that if you give it one kick, it may be able to sail across an entire large room without stopping. Even if you're not an incredibly strong soccer player, playing with this ball will help develop your confidence, as you'll likely be able to move it further than you can move an outdoor ball.

  • Small Net Included

With each Air Rider, you'll receive a small plastic net that rests lower on the ground than a standard soccer net, in order to accommodate the lower path of this indoor soccer ball. You'll be able to use this net to practice scoring goals alone or against one or more opponents. It's lightweight enough that most users will be able to carry it from room to room when necessary, too.

Positive Points

  • For Various Ages, Genders

Playing with this indoor soccer ball will be fun for boys and girls of virtually any age. Using it may serve as a great introduction to soccer for kids just starting elementary school, and older kids can use it to develop their skills. Aside from kids, especially if you're playing a family game, adults and teenagers might even find it entertaining and a challenge to join in on the fun. The only age groups that shouldn't play with this ball include babies and toddlers, as its size in relation to their size will pose a risk to their safety.

  • Play Solo or With Others

If you want to play with your Air Rider and there's no one around to play with it with you, that's no problem. Although it might be more fun to play in a group of several people, anyone can use this ball alone to practice their soccer skills. You might want to practice maneuvering your ball around obstacles such as pylons, or bounce it off a wall so you feel like you have an opponent.

  • Makes Good Bowling Ball

Besides using it for soccer, this ball is also useful if you want to play a bowling game. All you'll need to do is set up some pins (or makeshift pins such as books or water bottles) and roll the ball towards them as you would a bowling ball. Doing this will not only help you improve your bowling game, but will be a fun activity to experiment with on a rainy day.

  • Can Get One or Two

While you'll have the option of getting just one indoor soccer ball, you'll also have the choice of getting two. If you're playing ball in a group and are looking for a challenge beyond just a regular game, trying to control two balls and keep them away from the other team might be the answer.

Negative Points

  • Could Disturb Pets

If you've got a pet cat or dog, they may find the light-up nature of your ball disturbing, and could even get frightened if they see the ball coming towards them. As a result, you may have to play with your Air Rider in areas where your pets don't often hang out, which could be limiting if you have a small home.

  • Lights May Burn Out

LED lights normally last around 10, 000 hours each, but if you play with your ball frequently with the lights on, they will eventually burn out. After this happens, they could be difficult or impossible to replace, depending on how they've been inserted in the ball. You might end up having to get a whole new ball instead of replacing them if being able to light up your ball is important to you. This ball will work without lights, but it won't be as fun to play with it in the dark without them.

Critical Advice

Although you could use your Air Rider outdoors, it's been specifically designed for indoor use. If the outdoor surface you were to use wasn't completely clear of dirt and debris, this could get stuck in the motorized fan inside your ball and interfere with its performance. It might even cause the ball to stop gliding altogether. Consequently, it's best to keep the ball indoors, and it's especially important to keep it off of grass that could easily get stuck inside.
