Air Police 4 masks are non-medical fabric face masks with ear loops that have been made to protect people from germs while they're out in public. You can get these masks in packs of 10, 40, or 100 disposable masks, and it's specified that each one is made up of four layers of fabric (instead of the usual three). These light blue masks have been designed to cover the entire chin, mouth, and nose, and each has an adjustable nosepiece.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Hold Mask up to Face

To begin using one of these masks, you'll need to place it over your face so it's covering your nose, mouth, and chin. You must make sure that the adjustable nosepiece is at the top edge of the mask. If it's not, that means the mask is upside-down and needs to be flipped. The nosepiece must also be pointing inward, towards the nose, instead of outward towards the world.

  2. Add Ear Loops

Next, add one of your mask's ear loops to each of your ears. You'll find that these ear straps are fairly flexible, so you can stretch them to fit comfortably around an ear of virtually any shape or size.

  3. Adjust Nosepiece (optional)

You might find that the nosepiece of your mask fits well already, but if not, you can bend it a bit to suit the size and shape of your nose. The adjustments you might make will resemble the adjustments you'd make to the nosepiece of a pair of glasses or sunglasses. Your mask's nosepiece should be resting fairly snugly against your nose, but it shouldn't be so tight that it makes you feel uncomfortable.

  4. Go About Daily Business

Once your nosepiece is adjusted, you can go about your daily business while knowing that your mask will help protect you from the germs that may be emitted by another person's cough or sneeze. Many people choose to go mask-free outdoors, but in many areas of the world, it's recommended that you wear a mask in stores, on public transit, and in other indoor public spaces.

  5. Dispose of Mask

After you've worn your mask for an entire day, you can consider it worn-out and dispose of it. To dispose of it as safely as possible, remove it by the ear loops and hold it by one ear loop as you throw it in a wastebasket or trash can.

How It Works

Most non-medical masks contain only three layers of fabric, but the Air Police 4 masks contain a total of four layers. Logically, that means they'll give you more protection from germs and other contaminants in the outside world than three-layered masks would be able to. Furthermore, the durable polypropylene fabric used to create these masks has been melt-blown, which makes the masks porous and unlikely to restrict a person's breathing. This melt-blown fabric also has an electrostatic charge that will help repel viral particles if they do happen to come in contact with your mask.

Features

  • Light Blue

Each of these masks is light blue, which is a shade commonly associated with medical masks. Consequently, while you're wearing one, it's unlikely that anyone will mistake you for someone wearing a mask for the purpose of criminal activity. Plus, men who associate other pastel colors (such as purple and pink) with femininity won't feel like their masculinity is being threatened while they wear one of these masks.

  • Sets of Different Sizes

When obtaining a set of these masks, you can get 10, 40, or 100 of them at once, so you can choose the set size that best suits your household. While 10 masks will last a single person for about 10 days, families and groups of roommates may be better off selecting a larger set, if everyone in the house will be regularly wearing masks.

  • One Size Fits All

Due to the adjustable nose piece and flexible ear straps, the single size that this mask comes in is expected to fit the vast majority of adult men and women. If a child or teenager has a head that's adult-sized, or close to adult-sized, one of these masks will likely fit them nicely, too.

  • High Breathability

As alluded to above, these masks are associated with a high degree of breathability. Aside from adding to a user's comfort level, this also ensures that a person can wear glasses or sunglasses with their mask, without the eyewear constantly fogging up.

  • America-Based Company

Instead of being manufactured in another country, the Air Police 4 masks are made by a company that's based in the United States. That means you can wear them with the knowledge that American safety and labor standards have been employed throughout the production process.

Positive Points

  • Help Control Sickness

While these masks and other non-medical masks don't provide 100 percent protection from the Coronavirus, flu viruses, or other germs, they'll help you protect yourself and others. If you cough or sneeze while wearing an Air Police 4 mask, the droplets you produce will likely remain inside your mask instead of traveling up to 20 feet. Similarly, if someone else sneezes or coughs near you, and they produce droplets, these droplets will likely bounce off your mask instead of directly hitting your skin. Less direct passing of droplets will lead to less sickness in a community in general.

Negative Points

  • Not FDA Approved

The Air Police 4 masks haven't yet been approved (or even cleared) by the United States Food and Drug Administration. They've been authorized for use under an Emergency Use Authorization initiative, but it's unclear if this authorization will continue after the Coronavirus pandemic. Unless the FDA deems them safe for long-term use at some point, you may end up with a bunch of leftover masks that you can no longer legally wear.

Critical Advice

While polypropylene can be washed in a washing machine, on a gentle cycle with cold water and soap, these masks haven't been designed to be reused. If you wash yours and wear it again, you'll need to deal with the reality that the mask may be less effective at protecting you from germs than it was before the washing. The same goes if you wash one of these masks in a laundry tub with soap and water. With this type of mask, it's always a better idea to move onto another mask in your set if you want an optimum level of protection.

Save Time

Instead of quickly donning a mask like the Air Police 4 masks, you could attempt to make your own mask at home. However, even if you're an advanced seamstress, it may take you hours to make a mask with four layers of fabric. Moreover, if you want to use polypropylene fabric to create a homemade mask, it might take you days to find a supplier of this material.

I ordered the air police 4 masks and was very disappointed. It took over 2 weeks to receive & did not get the hand sanitizer. I would not recommend them at all.

Never Received my 4ply masks - made in USA order!
Unsuccessful a number of times trying to contact them to report an error. It was an expensive lesson for a NOT legitimate company or purchase!

I ordered 100 of theses 4 layer masks paying the $100. The masks are flawed in design and quality. I would like to get a refund. Worthless product.

Trying to put one over on Us

This company says they ship from US company leading you to believe they we're made in USA. Think before buying. I won’t for this very reason!

Not Made in USA/poor Quality

I agree with the other comments if I knew they were not made in the USA, would never have ordered, false advertising. Also, they fall apart fast, so far out of the 2 packs of 10 I opened, 7 of the masks came apart almost right away. The loops are not sewn on correctly and they break off, rendering them useless. A large waste of money.

They say the masks are made in the united states. They are made in Vietnam. Air Police 4 should be ashamed for telling a lie about where the product is made. Prefer to have mine manufactured in the united states. Would not have ordered them if I knew they came from Vietnam.

Made in Vietnam

They are shipped to your home from a company in the USA, but, according to the airpolice4 website, they are made in Vietnam.

4 Layers

With 4 layers how can anyone who wears your mask be heard through the mask? I have found that many masks are so thick that when you speak to someone, you can’t be understood! And if you’re an eyeglass wearer, that makes it more difficult to see even with a nose clip.

Amazon Face Masks

The problem I have had with ordering PPE equipment from Amazon is that you do not know where the item is coming from. If it's coming from China, like most of those items are from Amazon, they take forever to come, that is if you even get them. I wish Amazon would state if the PPE is coming from within the USA or from abroad. That way you can make a choice as to whether you want to purchase it or not. Just my thoughts.
