The Ab Chair is a piece of at-home fitness equipment that looks like a large, high-backed lawn chair, but it's been engineered to help adult men and women work their abdominals and back. Once you fold out the chair and sit, the apparatus has been designed to allow you to move your upper and lower body at the same time with up to a 180-degree range of motion. When you're done a workout, the chair will fold up for storage purposes.

How to Use (Step by Step)

  1. Fold Out The Chair

Once you have an Ab Chair, you'll need to fold it out on a flat surface like your living room floor to use it. It'll fold out in the same way that a lawn chair does. If you're worried about it scratching a hardwood or tile floor, you can use it on top of a non-slip rug or a rubber exercise mat. Users who prefer to exercise outdoors might also opt to fold it out on pavement or grass.

  2. Adjust Leg Rest

At the front of your chair, you'll notice a bar where you can rest each of your legs or both at once. To adjust the leg rest to suit the length of your legs, pull on the button below the leg rest and pull the rest out to lengthen it. In order to shorten it, if necessary, you can push it back in. Once you've adjusted the leg rest, place your feet and ankles on it to see if it's in the right position before starting your workout.

  3. Place Bottom On Seat

Next, place your bottom on your chair's seat. If you just want to start by working your lower body, you can pull your legs towards you and push them away with your feet sitting on the leg rest. Meanwhile, your hands can rest on the handles located near your waist area. To add in some upper-body action, reach your hands up above you and grab onto the arm strap at the top of the chair before engaging in sit-up motions. This can also be done alone without the previously mentioned leg movements.

  4. Fold Chair Away

Once you've worked out for as long as you desire on your Ab Chair (anywhere from five minutes to a couple of hours is fine, depending on your fitness level), you can store it away. If you'd like to leave it out for later use, that's acceptable, but folding it up will take seconds. Following that, it can be slid under almost any piece of furniture, like a couch or a desk.

How It Works

Many people will choose to do abdominal exercises on the floor or on the hard ground outdoors. However, if you go this route, your range of motion will be limited by either of those surfaces. Plus, a hard, flat surface may not provide your back, neck, and head with the support they need, especially if your sit-ups are jerky. The Ab Chair will increase your range of motion to 180 degrees, though, allowing you to bend and work your back more than you'd be able to on the floor. It'll also provide support to your head, neck, and back.

  • For All Men And Women

The Ab Chair is suitable for almost any adult man or woman, regardless of their age, as long as they weigh less than 250 pounds. If you have any doubts, due to a medical condition or an injury, you can always talk to a doctor first. Once everyone gets the go-ahead in your household, all the adults may want to share one chair and adjust the leg rest when necessary. A teen who is nearly adult-sized will be able to comfortably use one of these fitness devices, too.

  • Moisture-Wicking

Each of these fitness chairs is made mainly from gray, moisture-wicking fabric, which may come as a relief if you tend to sweat a lot during your workouts. While you exercise, this fabric will help wick away your sweat and keep you cool and dry. People who sweat a lot can also give the arm strap, the armrests, and the leg rests a quick wipe-down after their workout. This will add to the comfort level of anyone who is using the chair shortly afterward.

  • Digital Display

The Ab Chair offers a digital display, which you'll see between your feet when they're sitting on your leg rest. Regardless of whether you're doing sit-ups, crunches, leg lifts, or some other abdominal exercise, this display will show you how many repetitions you've done. That way, you won't accidentally cheat by doing too few reps or overexert yourself by doing too many.

  • Built-In Cup Holder

On one side of each Ab Chair, there's a built-in cup holder in which you can store your water bottle or any other drink you want to consume during a workout. With a drink sitting this close by, you shouldn't ever run the risk of dehydrating yourself, nor will you have to interrupt your workout to go to the sink for some water.

Positive Points

  • Can Be Used Nearly Anywhere

To gain access to high-quality machines that will allow you to work your abdominals, obliques (the sides of your abs), and back, you may normally have to visit a gym. If you have trouble finding the motivation to go, or you're embarrassed to work out in front of others, though, the Ab Chair makes a great substitute. You'll be able to use it alone at home or in your yard if you have one. It requires no electricity, so no extension cords will be involved, and you can work out in your pajamas if you'd like.

  • Accommodates Lying On Side

If you want to work on your love handles (which many people have these days) on either side of your waistline, this chair will accommodate you lying on your side instead of sitting. To work both of your love handles equally, you'll have to do the same number of side crunches on each side. For safety's sake, as you do so, you should keep one foot on the leg rest and hang onto the chair's arm strap with both hands.

Negative Points

  • Not For Extremely Heavy People

Extremely heavy people may benefit greatly from using this type of at-home fitness device, but the Ab Chair can't safely hold people who weigh more than 250 pounds. Therefore, if you're larger than that, you'll have to lose weight before you can even mount this apparatus. If you were to attempt to use it while weighing more than 250 pounds, the fabric could split and you could end up on the ground. This weight limit could pose a problem for heavy bodybuilders just as it will for people with a lot of body fat to lose.
