The 35 Below Blanket is a large blanket that's been designed to channel and contain your natural body heat so that you can stay comfortably warm (but without overheating) in a room of any temperature. One of these blankets can be used on a twin or full-sized bed, by one or two people, and may come in handy in your living room, too. You can even use it outdoors, where its outer layer will protect you from any rain or snow you might encounter.

The 35 Below Blanket can keep you warm and cozy for as long as you use it, due to its two separate layers. Each one has an inner layer that's made of fairly lightweight fleece that's soft to the touch, along with an outer layer that's made from aluminum fibers interwoven with a polyester resin known as Mylar. This blanket will feel soft against your skin or clothing, and the Mylar will help it retain the body heat that you naturally produce. Therefore, when you wrap it around yourself, a cocoon effect that will keep you evenly warm and comfortable from head to toe will be created. The same thing will happen if you wrap the blanket around yourself and a partner or even three people, and if the need arises, the outer aluminum layer will continuously keep everyone dry.
First, before you start using this blanket, you'll need to choose a location in which you want to use it. This could be any twin or full-sized bed, a chair or couch in your living room, or even a piece of furniture outdoors. You might also want to bring one of these blankets along with you in the car if you're going to be a passenger on a long, possibly chilly trip.
Next, position your blanket by placing it directly on top of you, on top of other sheets or blankets, or underneath other bedding. Regardless of what's over or under it, it'll still retain your body heat in the same way. The only thing that'll change based on its position is whether you feel the fleece from its inner layer against your skin or not. You should never have the aluminum and Mylar layer closest to your skin, though, as that won't feel as comfortable.
Once you've got your blanket positioned, crawl underneath it by yourself or with one or two companions of your choice, and enjoy peaceful sleep or relaxation. When you're underneath it, if your body temperature was in the normal range to start with, you shouldn't feel freezing nor should you feel hot and sweaty.
The inner layer of each 35 Below Blanket is white and the outer layer is silver, which will enable you to clearly tell which layer should be closest to your body.
Each of these blankets is 58 inches long and 36 inches wide, so each one will fit any twin-sized or full-sized (sometimes known as a double) bed. As a result, if you bring it to an alternative location such as a friend's house or a hotel, you'll likely be able to find a bed there to accommodate it.
Although each blanket has some aluminum fibers mixed into its design, none of them will feel like a big hunk of aluminum while lying on top of you. Instead, each one is lightweight enough that it'll feel similar to a standard duvet while it's resting on top of or is wrapped around your body. You also won't have to struggle to carry each one around your home or to your vehicle, either, and each one will roll up smaller than its original size for transportation or storage purposes.
The 35 Below Blanket is powered completely by its materials and the body heat of the person or people lying underneath it, so there are no electrical wires involved in its operation. When you want to use yours, you won't have to worry about finding an electrical outlet or a set of batteries, nor will you have to worry about electrical shocks or wires catching on fire. The lack of electricity required to use it makes it an ideal blanket to bring along on a camping trip, especially if the weather forecast calls for cool weather at night.
Each blanket is machine washable, so if you've got a machine or can gain access to one, you'll never have to hand-wash yours or take it to the dry cleaner's.
If you sleep with someone else in a double bed, and they tend to get hot while you're cold or vice versa, obtaining a 35 Below Blanket is an ideal solution to the problem. You can keep the thermostat in the room fairly low, and the person who's chilly can use one of these blankets, while the other person uses lighter blankets or remains uncovered. This same strategy can also be used if you share just a room and not a bed, but your roommate likes a different sleeping temperature than you.
On a related note, this blanket is also a good one for college students living in dorm rooms or tiny apartments, even if no beds or rooms are shared. It can be a hassle to transport tons of bedding to a place that a student's only inhabiting for part of the year, as can be finding a place to store it once it's there. Fortunately, if they've got a 35 Below Blanket in their possession, that may be enough to keep any student warm all winter, and they may not need many other blankets or sheets.
Those users who would like one of these blankets, but will need one to fit a bed that's larger than a double, will have the opportunity to upgrade to the queen size. The dimensions of this larger-sized version aren't given, but one of these will certainly be bigger than the standard-sized blankets are.
If you constantly crank up your home's thermostat because you're feeling the chill, you may be able to turn it way down once you have a 35 Below Blanket to keep you adequately warm. By using one of these blankets instead of a traditional electric blanket, you can also avoid causing your electricity bill to skyrocket, and you won't need to obtain batteries for it the blanket, either.
To enable your 35 Below Blanket to last as long as possible, you should do your utmost best to stop it from getting ripped or torn. If its outer layer gets damaged in this way, that could interfere with the blanket's heat-retaining performance. With that being said, if you've got a cat or dog that likes to scratch or knead blankets, try to keep them away from the outer layer of this one. This may mean that you'll need to position it under a couple of other blankets instead of using it as the top layer of bedding.
