Veggetti Can Kill Someone

I had a piece of the Veggetti break off and was in our food. If swallowed it was sharp enough to do major damage. This should be recalled. Oh and I forgot to mention the site has no way of contacting them about this issue.

I Love my Veggetti!

I love my Veggetti! It makes great noodles, you just have to make sure to dab the zucchini before cooking. Through trial and error I've figured out the best way to cook the zucchini noodles is to saute them or stir fry them for just a few minutes or they will wither and shrink into a mushy mess. Don't cook like traditional noodles in water. Boiling makes them mushy and nasty. Saute them, it's the way to go! I also make my own veggie spaghetti sauce to go with it so my whole meal is only around 180 calories!

I Liked it so Much, Wrote a Poem

ODE TO Veggetti OH'S

Seven food groups, some prioritized
yet some ignored.
For some peeps like myself,
veggies require a bribe of sorts
From master chefs of recipes learned.
But as my budget is a curse
Instead of employing such a person --
Licensed or undocumented,
I purchased one rather than rented
Discounted in a store.,
From Boscov's to be sure.

It was a revelation for me one morn
that I came upon an "as seen on tv" rack
so adorned
With these spiral cutters
for two sawbucks and four --
Capable of trimming down zucchini and squash,
carrots, and more
into a pasta-like substitute
blessed with vitamins galore.

Upon my word:
It's an investment to be explored --
Worthy of a holler.
Now I can prepare healthy dishes
for pennies to a dollar --
As such produce is cheap
and so is the sauce that I need not heap.
Because if you haven't heard
Zucchini and Tomato sauce is the bomb
a taste worth repeating.

I purchased the Veggetti Pro, btw.

Don't Waster Your Money

Do not waste your money on the Veggetti. Bought this and was never able to get it clean after the first use. The food stays trapped in the blades and I could not get out. Tried using bottle cleaner brush ( little end ), digging out with a pointed knife, toothpicks etc. Nothing worked. Pay extra if needed for a consumer friendly.

Veggetti Warning

Thought Veggetti was a good idea. Used it once and 9 yr old grand daughter got a piece of the sharp blade in her mouth. The first blade broke off and was in the food. Not safe!

Very Disappointed!

Husband is gluten intolerant and really thought this product would add variety to his wheat-free diet. Tried carrots first, but quickly realized I had wasted my money. My biggest struggle was with the food safety holder. The spikes intended to hold the vegetable mutilated my carrots and potatoes. Eventually there wasn't much for the spikes to grab on to. The apparatus is also very difficult to clean because it's almost impossible to reach the timy scraps of vegetables left under the cutters. I'm willing to give it a try with zucchini, but if that doesn't work, my Veggetti is going in the garbage.

Cheaper Alternative Available

I bought mine for USD $15 when in NYC. Quite happy with it, works well with zucchini and carrots, not for potatoes though some reviewers had luck with that. The cute spirals were very watery, so had to squeeze before use. I use the veggie spirals in salads and stir frys. Anyway, for those living in Canada, there is a $3 version sold at Dollarama!

I found a very creative solution for the very small end piece that the Veggetti did not cut. I ate it, as I normally do! The Zucchini in olive oil and garlic was quick and easy to make. The taste was delicious! This thing is cool!

You will waste your money and regret buying Vegetti. Impossible to clean, wastes the vegetable, blades can break off into your food. This item should be removed from the Market.

I have something to say!

I'm here looking at my box of traditional semolina / durum flour Barilla brand Spagetti Rigati because some of the info in the review seemed questionable -- "Ordinary pasta has over 800 calories and 160 grams of carbohydrates per serving. " The nutritional facts on the Barilla box state that a one-pound box contains 8 servings of 2 ounces each, each serving has 200 calories, and 42 grams of carbs. So, one would have to eat four servings in order to add up to the 800 calories/160 g. Of carbs claimed by Veggetti. You can check my math but it is pretty simple and seems correct. Not that zucchini isn't excellent food and not that I wouldn't buy a Veggetti. Just wanted to set the record straight.

You're right on point Maureen. However, I believe the only error Veggetti made was in their wording. Most people ( read: most ) do not stop eating pasta at a single serving. They fill their plates, which could easily equal 4 servings - or more. For such people, a plate of pasta could easily equal 800 Cal / 160 G carbs in a meal. Have you ever measured a "serving" of pasta? It isn't much! But you're right on when you say their claim is incorrect.
