Switch Brite is an LED light switch that you can install yourself in seconds, without using any tools, and it's self-powered, so operating it won't even require any electricity. The switch can be hung at any level, so it's ideal for kids' rooms or closets and cabinets that don't have a lot of spare wall space. Each switch glows bright and white, and the switches come in sets of two, so you'll be able to either hang yours in a couple of different places or keep a backup on hand.
Total Cost Breakdown
How It Works
Each Switch Brite is powered by eight super-bright LED lights, which are more energy efficient than standard lightbulbs, and will immediately brighten up any space when you flick your device's switch upward. The eight lights will last for up to 100,000 hours without any assistance from batteries or an electrical source.
How to Use (Step by Step)
- Peel Off Backing
To install your Switch Brite, you'll first need to peel the adhesive backing off of it in order to reveal a sticky back.
- Stick to Flat Surface
Next, you'll need to select a flat surface on which you want to affix your light switch, and stick the switch's back to this flat surface. This will most likely be a wall, but could also be a door, the inside of a cabinet, or even in the inside of your trunk.
- Flip Switch
When you need to turn your installed light switch on, simply flip the switch's lever upward and it'll light up, giving you an amount of light that'll allow you to see without being blinding. To turn off your switch, just flip its lever down.
The Switch Brite is white, so it looks like most light switches that you'd find in the home or workplace. When turned on, it gives off white light, as opposed to colored light that could be annoying or distracting.
Besides sticking this light switch on a wall or another flat surface, you may choose to use it as a portable night light. Since it won't give off an excessive amount of light, you'll be able to carry it around your home in the dark without a high risk of waking up others who are sleeping.
- Come in Sets of Two
You'll get two of these light switches, both in white, in a single set. If you can't find two places in your home or car that need more light, you'll be able to keep your second switch as a replacement for your first one once it burns out.
There are no wires attached to this particular light switch, nor will you ever need any for its installation and / or operation.
- No Tools Necessary
As with wires, you won't need any tools to install or operate this light switch, so you won't need to worry about finding and / or learning to use the proper ones before installation. All you'll need are your own two hands, and in fact, you may even be able to install this type of switch with one hand!
- Ideal During Power Outages
Since the Switch Brite doesn't run via electricity, but by virtue of its lights' own power, you'll be able to turn yours on during power outages and avoid being completely in the dark.
- Great for Kids' Rooms
Standard light switches are often installed too high for chiidren to reach. However, since you can stick your Switch Brite to virtually any flat surface at whatever level you choose, you can hang it at the perfect level for your child. Therefore, you wont' need to be in charge of turning on and off their light each day, and they'll feel more like an adult when they get to do that on their own.
- Can be Used in Car
Aside from the home, this light switch will also work in the car, and will come in especially handy if your car's inner light is burnt out. The only things it might not stick to effectively are the seats, if they're covered in fabric. You'll be able to install one in your trunk, too, if you find it's often too dark for you to quickly put your hands on the objects you need.
- May Lose Stickiness
Your light switch's adhesive backing may lose its stickiness over time, especially if you frequently move the switch from place to place. Once that occurs, you'll need to either stop using the switch or find some other way to hang it that may not be as effective.
- Standard Light Switch
Using a standard light switch is great if there's already one installed in the area you want to illuminate. Small areas like closets, cabinets, or crawlspaces often don't have light switches, though, and installing one can drain your time and / or financial resources.
- Plug-in Light
Plug-in lights such as night lights are popular, but besides adding to your electricity bill, they may also take up an entire electrical outlet that you could be using for two devices instead.
You might think taking a flashlight into a dark space with no light is a good idea, but you'll either need to carry the flashlight, leaving only one hand free, or attach it to yourself. Moreover, most flashlights require batteries, while Switch Brite does not.
