Porchbrella is a mesh screen that you can slide over almost any patio umbrella when you want to keep bugs out. This transparent umbrella will come in handy while you're dining on the deck or while you're trying to relax outdoors in peace. Besides bugs, it'll even keep out some rain, so you'll be able to remain fairly dry in a downpour. This covering will open easily when you need it to, but will also quickly snap shut after you pass through, keeping outdoor pests from entering.

How It Works
Each Porchbrella is affixed with 18 magnets, half on each side of its opening. When these magnets are separated, they automatically snap back together in pairs. As you push lightly against them, they'll separate long enough for you to pass through your mesh cover's opening, but will quickly return to their original positions, closing off the cover again.
How to Use (Step by Step)
- Drape Over Umbrella
To begin using your Porchbrella, drape it over your existing patio umbrella, as per the specific instructions provided in your package.
- Adjust for Custom Fit
If you find that your Porchbrella hangs too loosely over your patio umbrella, all you'll need to do is tighten the adjustable cinch for a customized fit.
- Remove Covering (optional)
At the end of your patio season, or earlier if you choose, you can either detach your covering from your patio umbrella or leave it attached. If you choose the second option, your covering will automatically open up whenever you open your umbrella again, saving you some work.
Each covering is made of dark gray mesh that you can see through, so using it with your patio umbrella won't mean that you'll miss what's going on around you. If your kids want to play outside the covering but you want to stay underneath, you'll be able to supervise them just as effectively as usual.
The Porchbrella is large enough to fit over any umbrella with a diameter of nine feet or less, regardless of the umbrella's shape.
- Adjustable Cinch
If you want this covering to fit your umbrella in a tighter or looser manner, you'll be able to pull on the adjustable cinch in order to change the fit in seconds.
You'll also be able to detach your Porchbrella from a particular patio umbrella very quickly, so if you want to transfer it between umbrellas, this won't be an issue. If you're taking it off your property, such as to your cottage or on a camping trip, you'll simply need to roll it up to make it more compact.
- Keeps Out Bugs
When you're trying to enjoy a meal or snack outdoors, bugs likes bees, flies, and mosquitoes can be incredibly annoying, landing on your food and drink or trying to bite you. Fortunately, your Porchbrella will keep these critters from coming under your patio umbrella, so you'll be able to enjoy your time outdoors to the fullest.
- Minimizes Presence of Rain
Each of these coverings has tiny holes, so yours won't be able to keep every drop of rain out, but it'll keep out enough to allow you to remain fairly comfortable outdoors as it pours. Hence, you won't need to immediately move your dinner inside due to a bit of wet weather.
- Kids Can Run in and Out
Even if your kids continually run in and out from under your covering, the covering won't remain open long enough for tons of pests to tromp inside. Besides kids, dogs will be able to push gently against the covering and run in and out from under it, too. If you happen to be having a birthday party for your child with helium balloons, you may want to keep the balloons contained within your covering so they don't float up to the sky.
- Ideal for Camping Trips
Besides being useful at home, the Porchbrella will also make a great dining tent during camping trips—just remember to bring along an umbrella to attach it to.
- Comes With Magic Mesh
Each covering comes with a Magic Mesh screen that can be hung from almost any doorway. This apparatus has a similar magnetic closure and will keep pesky outdoor bugs from entering your home.
- May Rip
Mesh isn't the most sturdy fabric out there, and if your Porchbrella gets a hole in it, it definitely won't work as it usually does. Therefore, you'll need to spend time repairing it, or put up with some bugs.
- Won't Stand Alone
While it's nice that the Porchbrella will attach to an ordinary patio umbrella, it would be even more convenient if it could stand alone. As is, people without patio umbrellas or with umbrellas larger than nine feet around will not be able to use it without obtaining a new umbrella.
By using the Porchbrella, you'll ensure that you won't have to replace food or drinks that have been contaminated by bugs as often, if at all. Instead, after a dinner outdoors, you'l be able to pack up your bug-free leftovers and enjoy them later.
While it's fine for most dogs to hang out under or near one of these coverings, as long as they're not aggressive enough to knock an umbrella over, you may want to keep cats away. If your cat often sharpens his or her claws on random objects, he or she could tear a hole in the mesh in seconds.
