Warnings

  • Do Not Use Cooking Spray

Using nonstick cooking spray on nonstick cookware is a big no-no. Here's the problem with it — after a while your pan will get a sticky buildup of the spray that doesn't burn off during cooking. This usually happens around the sides of the pan.

  • Washing Instructions

    1. Wash the pan with warm water and soap using a nylon scrubber.
    2. Rinse completely and dry with a soft cloth.

Infomercial

The Gotham Steel infomercial claims that nothing will stick to this pan and everything slides right out of it. During the infomercial parmesan cheese is melted directly in the pan and it just slides right out. The same thing happened when a Smores dip was put in the oven. It was made up of chocolate chips, milk and marshmallows which are placed in the oven and the whole concoction slides right out of the pan. If you need even more convincing about this pan then here it is. Three peppermints are melted in the pan with their plastic wrappers on and they can be wiped right out of the pan - nothing sticks.

How Non-Stick Works

The most popular non-stick cookware surface consists of a thin layer of Teflon, also known as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE). Recently health concerns have been raised over the use of PTFE, thus most manufactures duplicate it's properties with an alternative fluoropolymer.

Gotham Steel Pans are PFOA and PFOS-free.

Regardless of what combination of materials, metals, or coatings a pan uses; they stop food from sticking to the surface is by preventing bonding at a molecular level. Such bonding naturally occurs under high-heat conditions.

Remember: Any pan will stick, it is the coating applied to the pan which prevents sticking.

Sticks After 9 Uses?

No! It does not stick after 9 uses. Truth be told, there is no magic number of times the pan can be used before losing its non-stick qualities. There have been a number of real customer reviews (as seen below) which state the pan stuck for them on the very first use; while others claim to have used the pan flawlessly for over a month. It's Not a Miracle Pan; you get what you pay for.

How to Season Gotham Steel Pan

It is commonly known that cast Iron pans need to be seasoned.

However, it is also recommended to season non-stick pans as well.

Nonstick coatings wear off with time. Seasoning will significantly help extend the life of nonstick pans!

Seasoning helps to fill in any pits or inconsistencies that have developed in the finish. Often times there exist blemishes which are invisible to the naked eye.

Most non-stick pans come pre-seasoned and ready for use; however, re-seasoning a pan will confirm that the process was conducted properly rather than reliying on the process completed at mass by the factory.

What you'll need to season a non-stick pan:
- Water
- Teaspoon
- Paper towel
- Soap
- Cooking Oil
- Stove Top

Seasoning Instructions

  • Wash

    - Wash the pan using warm water with a mild dish soap. Do not scrub the pan.
Ensure to use a soft, non abrasive cloth.
This will remove any particles or debris that could interfere with the seasoning process.

  • Dry

    - Thoroughly dry the pan with a clean paper towel. Ensure not to just move the water around into smaller areas.
Continually switch for new paper towel until you are able to wipe everywhere on the pan and absorb any water.

  • Heat

    - Place the pan on a stove top. Set the temperature to low for approximately 30 seconds.

  • Remove from Heat

    - Remove the pan from the heat source and turn off the stove top.

  • Add Oil

    - Measure-out one tablespoon of oil and pour it into the cooling / recently heated pan while it is still warm.
    - Cooking or vegetable oil is recommended specifically for non-stick cooking surfaces.
    - Gently spread the oil around the pan to evenly coat the entire surface.

  • Wait

    - Allow the oil to dry for several minutes. The oil will form a thick consistency once it cools down.

  • Repeat

    - Repeating this seasoning process every few months will help to maintain the pan's integrity.

Conclusion

  • Have realistic expectations.
  • Read real customer reviews, not just website reports.
  • Educate yourself on pan care.

With today's technology, most pans which cost between $20-$40 each will equally perform. As Seen on TV pans are no different. Pans such as Gotham Steel, Orgreenic, Red Copper, or Slip Stone all work great if they are properly cared for. Do not expect a $20 pan to be invincible, or last a life time.

Decide what you want:

a. If you want a pan that will last for years purchase the most expensive T-Fal set you can find; but don't expect your eggs to be sliding 'As Seen on TV'. Also even T-Fal pans will quickly start to stick if they are not properly used and cared for.

b. If you want the As Seen on TV effect of a frying pan which appears as slick as ice; treat it properly, educate yourself on pan care and don't expect it to last a life time.

End State:
1. You get what you pay for.
2. The pan is worth the price.
3. Any cookware will fail if not cared for.

Does Not do What it Says

We have used this pan five or six times already and the eggs always stick. We have the flame on low but that doesn't seem to make a difference except in the time it takes to cook the eggs. Am really disappointed. Will try the seasoning suggestions.

Good so Far

So far mine is great. Have only had it 3 weeks, but so far it is as advertised. Due to these other bad reviews, I'm going to go a couple few months before I buy more of these. So far so good.

Does Not Work as Advertised!

What a joke! This does not work as advertised. Kept the temperature at warm, and my eggs all stuck like they normally would ( should ) in a pan. Total false advertising! Non-stick spray, here I come ( again! )!

FALSE ADVERTISING

I bought my pan at a retail store and my first red flag was when one of the first things I see while removing the packaging is an Arbitration Agreement. Everything I have cooked in this pan sticks. Every. Single. Time. I tried to call customer service and they said to cook on low heat. Really? In a pan that advertises it can be used in an oven up to 500 degrees? I never used the pan in the oven and never cooked anything in it on high anyway, so this was not the issue. I am so glad I didn't buy the set of these pans. I see many people have had the same issue with this pan as I have. Huge waste of money!

What a Disappointment

I've had mine for only three days, and fried nothing but eggs between low and med temp as suggested. I have yet to have an egg that did not stick.

True story. The old saying ' if it's too good to be true, then it's too good to be true" this is BS. Doesn't work at all. Took it back to store. Will continue my use of oil or butter.

Mine was just fine right out of the package. I put raw chicken breast in the pan that I had heating up on high heat. That would stick a bit on my cast iron, steel and nonstick stuff. It slid around like there was a layer of air between the chicken and pan. Cleaned easier than anything else I own and I am considering replacing my regular cookware with all this stuff.

THIS PAN STICKS! (and Sucks! )

This was the biggest scam of 2016. The pans I purchased are in a land fill now. As they stick better than stamps, glue, plaster and tape.

If I could only get my $ back!

Nice planted reviews, praising the pans. So fake. The pans are garbage and the commercial is a huge scam. Don't waste your money. If you want a great pan, get a cast iron pan or skillet, learn to to care for it and treat it, and it will last you forever.

I have the 12.5 inch pan. I did everything per instructions. Never using any metal spatula on it even and everything in it is sticking and plus it has warped. I have had it less then a month.
Good luck in finding a customer service phone number. There is on where I have found to talk with someone about it and get my money back.
I have searched and searched to find someone that I can talk to on the phone and I have as of yet to find anyone. I for one will never ever buy one again.
I cannot find a Customer Service Phone number anywhere.

The only pan that ever needs seasoning is a cast iron skillet. These are ceramic and titaniam No seasoning. With these pans they work best with nothing and I usually season when it is in the pan.
