Buzz Light is an LED light bulb housed inside of a plastic cage. In the center is the special bug zapper which will help to keep your home and yard free and clear from flying annoyances. Drawing them in with the bright bulb, the insects are zapped upon impact, killed immediately never to bother your home again. Now you can stave off insect-borne illnesses and relax outdoors at your next outdoor picnic, social gathering, or evening off.
Total Cost Breakdown
- Zapper and Light in One
It is a bug zapper and LED light in one unit.
- Draws in Flying Insects
Bright LED light draws in the bugs.
- Kills on Contact
The bug zapper kills them on contact.
- Large Coverage Area
Works over wide area.
- Installs Easily
Installs as easily as screwing in a normal light bulb.
- Led Bulb
Houses 70 watt LED bulb lasting 50,000 hours.
- Saves Electricity Costs
Due to the fact that it is an LED light bulb, it saves you money on the cost of running the light.
- No Chemicals
There are no sprays involved, no chemicals, no fumes, and you do not have to worry about ingesting anything while you are blocking the mosquitos. It is completely safe for people and pets. No smells, no sprays, no fumes, and no chemicals means you can breathe easily.
- Kills on Impact
Rather than just acting as a deterrent, this unit kills on impact. When you try to use deterrents, the bugs are still there, which means they can always come back another time to cause problems. Killing them alleviates this risk.
- Environmentally Better
This unit is somewhat environmentally better insofar as it lacks chemicals harmful to the environment. These chemicals come in aerosol spray cans which are also very bad for the ozone layer.
- Use it Many Places
Use it inside your home, near a window in a bedroom, in a kitchen, over a patio, or inside a garage. You can use it outside an office, inside food prep areas or picnic areas where food is stored, and more.
- Need a Fixture
You still need an existing light fixture into which it can plug.
You cannot really use it indoors or you will have a big mess. It is meant as a permanent solution for the outdoors, killing bugs before they even make it into the house.
- Dead Bugs
Dead bugs will fall instead of being caught anywhere, or they stick to the bulb, so you end up having to clean them up.
- Blue Light
It emits the strong blue LED light, so it will give off a blue appearance to your entire yard.
How to Use (Step by Step)
- Screw in
Screw in the bulb to any 110V light fixture. You screw it into an existing light fixture outside, such as a patio, deck, or even inside a family room.
- Turn on
The soft blue light will lure the flying bugs such as mosquitos, flies, and gnats to the grid in the center. This bulb is a soft white 110V bulb that, because of its LED quality, is energy efficient and will last for up to thirteen years.
Upon contact, the bugs are killed.
With this LED bulb you save money on energy costs. You save money by no longer having to buy expensive sprays or chemical deterrents.
- No Dimmer
You cannot use these bulbs with a dimmer.
How It Works
Bug zappers like this one, emit an ultraviolet light. Said light is something easily perceived by flying bugs, but not as much by the human eye. So bugs are attracted to it because the flower patterns that insects are normally drawn to are revealed with UV light. As such, the bugs are drawn toward the device where they enter between the cage and the grid. Upon contact, the bugs hit the high voltage electrical mesh grid completing the electric circuit. After this, voltage crosses the space between these circuits and the bugs are electrocuted, vaporized instantly. Zap sounds are heard upon impact because of the circuit closing. The bulb is housed behind a protective plastic cage.
How it's Different from Competitors
These bug zappers really work. They effectively kill annoying bugs that fly. Downside here is that biting bugs are not actually drawn to the light, including biting gnats and mosquitos. Traditionally speaking, these LED bug zappers kill lots of bugs, but not the harmful ones. Instead they end up killing harmless insects. In fact, in some areas, they end up killing more beneficial insects than harmful ones.
Mosquitos in particular are drawn toward people because of the carbon dioxide from breathing and water vapor from sweating. For this reason, chemical sprays try to mask these smells from the mosquito, but mosquitos can still just fly into you on accident. So the best LED bug zappers are ones which emit UV light in tandem with carbon dioxide, which this one does not. Yellow bug lights, too, illuminate areas by filtering out the blue spectrum light to which flying insects are normally attracted. Unfortunately, this bulb does not emit that light.
Tips & Tricks
- Keep Away From Food
You want to keep it away from any area where you might socialize with others, or where food is. Reason being, electrocuted bugs, especially small ones, turn into a mist of dead insect parts that can reach seven feet from the zapper. This mist has germs which people or animals can inhale if they are too close.
- Zapp Light
Zapp Light. This is a chemical free bug zapper light that uses an LED light bulb with the bug zapper in a similar fashion. It too kills flying insects such as flies, wasps, and mosquitos upon impact.
- Buzz Kill
Buzz Kill is an LED bulb that comes in two forms: warm / soft lighting and natural/day lighting. There are LED and UV light components which you can turn on together or separately. With a brightness of 920 lumens, this bulb is brighter than normal incandescent bulbs. Use it indoors or outdoors.
- E Zapper
E Zapper is an LED bulbs for indoor or outdoor use to protect against flying insects. Rather than making a sticky mess or deterring them with smell, this bulb kills them on impact. With a 3 in 1 design, you get a beautiful LED light, a UV light, and a bug killer in one unit.
It is economical insofar as it saves on energy costs, especially for the large and expensive mosquito zappers. Installation is a breeze. Multipurpose in its design, you can use it anywhere. What’s more, each bulb has a cleaning brush so that you can remove dead bugs on the bulb without touching them directly.
