Better Sponge

48 Votes

The Better Sponge is a kitchen sponge that contains thousands of little silicone bristles that will work to remove almost any type of dirt off virtually any type of dish. This sponge comes in three different shapes and shades, including a purple square shape, a green round shape and an oval shape in orange. It's bendable and flexible, besides being so gentle that it'll never leave scratches, so you can use it on almost any dish, regardless of how odd-shaped or delicate that dish might be.

Total Cost Breakdown

The cost of Better Sponge is $14.95 plus $0.00 shipping. The special TV offer allows you to receive a second Better Sponge at the discounted price of only $5.95 for a total price of $20.9. Price is from As Seen on TV Commercial page: trybettersponge.com

How It Works

As you slide this sponge along any dish, its 3000 miniature silicone "fingers" will work to loosen any substance that's soiling the dish, from slippery sauce to caked-on melted cheese. Regardless of how stubborn a substance is, it should fall off the dish in seconds without an excessive amount of scrubbing from you. This sponge is also bacteria and mildew-resistant, so unlike many other sponges, it won't hang onto or quickly grow any of this potentially harmful stuff after the visible dirt is gone.

Features

  • Three Shades and Shapes

The Better Sponge comes in three different shapes, each with its own shade. Having three different shades of sponge ( orange, purple, and green ) will keep your kitchen looking interesting. The fact that there are three different shapes of sponge serves a more practical purpose, as you can choose the shape that best suits each particular dish that you need to wash.

  • Bendable and Flexible

Each sponge is flexible and can be bent, so if you need to wash a dish that's odd-shaped, such as a glass that's very deep and skinny, this likely won't be a problem. You'll probably be able to remove every morsel of dirt from any odd-shaped dish you use, since your sponge will be able to reach any corner or crevice.

  • Won't Scratch Dishes

The Better Sponge is so gentle that it won't put scratches on any of your dishes, even delicate glassware.

  • Will Hang in Sink

Each Better Sponge has a handy built-in suction cup attached that will allow you to hang it right in your sink, on one of the walls, to dry. By doing this, you'll ensure that it's always ready at hand for the next use.

  • Dishwasher Safe

You can rinse off one of these sponges if it's just a bit dirty, but if it's more on the filthy side, it's safe to plop it in the dishwasher to be cleaned.

Positive Points

  • Won't Smell Horrible

Some sponges start to smell awful after just a few months of use, but you may be able to use this one for years without it getting stinky. The mildew and bacteria that collects on a standard sponge over time is often what makes it smell, and this one won't collect much of this, if any at all.

  • Will Likely Last a Long Time

Each Better Sponge is made from silicone that's strong and durable, albeit flexible, so one will likely last you for years without breaking down.

  • Other Uses Besides Dishwashing

Besides washing dishes, you'll be able to use one of these sponges for a variety of other tasks, including gripping jar lids, lifting hot pots or dishes, and washing soap scum off any glass surface. When it's completely dry, you'll even be able to use one to take pet hair off furniture, as its extra-long bristles will lift it away.

Alternatives

  • Standard Sponge

A lot of people choose to use standard sponges in the kitchen, but these often get dirty and stinky and won't come clean, or they simply fall apart in months or even weeks. What's more, with some of them, you won't be able to effectively clean dishes of certain shapes and sizes, or ones made of certain materials. Fortunately, the Better Sponge will last a lot longer than the majority of standard sponges, and will make short work of almost any dirt found within almost any dish.

  • Fabric Rag

Some people choose to wash off dishes with a fabric rag, but these come with some of the same problems as standard sponges—they hang onto dirt easily and are difficult to manipulate. Plus, if you don't have an old item of clothing that you're willing to part with lying around, you'll have to find rags online or in a store. If you're going to put the effort into that, it might be best to get something that'll work more effectively.

  • Steel Wool

Steel wool can be useful when it comes to cleaning sturdier dishes, such as some pots and pans, but it's often too tough on delicate dishes such as wine glasses. Moreover, if it starts to rust, it'll need to be replaced or it may start leaving bits of rust behind on your dishware.

Save Money

If you use standard sponges or rags, you may need to replace them each year or perhaps more often than that. However, once you obtain a package of three sponges of the Better Sponge variety, you may not need to get any new sponges for several years. You also won't need to replace any dishes that may have broken or gotten scratched due to being washed with a cleaning apparatus that's less gentle.
